Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Not to exceed 3K RPM? Ours have probably seen 3K RPM once or twice in their entire lives! Thanks, I am old enough to have learned "old school", the man goes out 30 minutes before the car is needed. Starts it, clears snow, and waits.... I know that running rich is not good long term, but why...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Please update with results. My daughter in Rochester NY just tried her washers and they are not working. Even though I put in 0F fluid, which is fine for there, I wonder if the previous fluid had not been fully flushed out and might be frozen in the pump or the lines. Concerned about damage due...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Ha! I used a "Saskatchewan Thermostat" on my 1972 Austin Marina in Wisconsin. Mine had a one-time adjustable aperture in the middle. Had to calibrate the size of the aperture vs the temperature and be sure to install the summer version before it got too warm out.

    engine stalling

Well, years ago my Austin Marina had a gas tank that was painted on the inside. The paint failed and flaked off. After maybe 20-30 minutes enough paint flakes were sucked up against the fuel tank filter that the engine stalled out. After sitting for about the same amount of time, they had come...

Wonky bits after disconnecting my battery...

It's very possible that your IIDTool (like mine) will not have the proper battery listed when you do the battery reset. Just choose the closest/best fit. And yes, my LR4 was unhappy at first, but after "thinking about" the new battery overnight, all the codes cleared - all my themselves. Go...

    Did I break something?

Plenty of videos but they go over it quickly so its easy to miss. Before you start, put vehicle at normal height, then measure hub midpoint to fender , mine was 18.25 inches. On a 2013. Also mark the cam washers and frame with paint pen to capture that alignment. Install all the bolts...

    Date code on LR batteries?

3 years is the max lifetime for me. Very doubtful your battery is 6 years old… I always use a paint pen and write the installation date on the top where it is easily seen. As I recall, my AutoZone batteries have date stamps on the side on the end towards the front and ut cannot be seen unless...

    engine stalling

Yes, the engine temperature plug on the heater manifold (rear crossover pipe) and the plug on the back of the intake manifold are interchangeable. I did the 2013 last month and due to wire lengths it was not possible to mess it up, but there are other strings here that state they have been...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Coolant is a bit low but not bad. Will have her top it off from the supply box in the back. I hadn’t run in 6 weeks, for Christmas break. Maybe something there? Would be but a few minutes work if it was home, but its 1300 miles away…

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Engine Temp sensor is located in the heater manifold, seems logical it also controls diversion to the heater. Seems to be correct because little heat in the cabin. At this point no idiot lights or messages. We shall see, this is the first real winter this truck has probably ever seen - might...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Any chance it was frozen solid inside the pump and you just can't hear anything because the pump is locked? I checked the shop manuals for 2013-2016, not terribly helpful. There is one pump, two hoses. Get to it by removing the drivers side fender liner. I have a wiring schematic for the...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

I replaced the front lowers this fall on the 2013. I wasn't paying enough attention when I ordered from AB and I got AB parts rather than OEM. Guess we shall see how long they last...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

It's always something... 2016 LR4, V6, 55K miles, purchased used about 2 years ago. Factory original crossover pipes etc., scheduled to be replaced this coming spring.... I am from Wisconsin and I know all about warming up vehicles in cold and really cold weather. BUT Our Rovers have all...

    Lower radiator hose connector.

Diagnostic tool: Are you using Rover brand antifreeze? If so then just get a UV flashlight and use it to find the leak (your local parts shop should have them, Amazon does for sure). Rover brand antifreeze has UV dye in it. If not using Rover brand, then get a UV dye that is compatible with...

Call Palm Beach Rover, you will likely speak to Philip. He is a wizard at finding part numbers. They are also easy and dependable as internet parts suppliers.

    Weird suspension fault

Anything that's in there on both sides, I always replace as an axle set. (Unless it's a true injury of some kind - like a tire that picks up a road hazard - but even then it there is any appreciable wear, I replace both.) If one side has worn, the other can't be far behind.

How To - DIY - 2013 LR4 - Front Crossover Pipe, Rear Crossover Pipe, Water Pump, Coolant Replacement

No, I did not do the thermostat. No thermostat issues and had to draw the line somewhere... Now that I know the tricks of that particular part of the plumbing, the thermostat would be easy enough.

    Weird suspension fault

What codes are you getting? Why did you do only the right and not the pair. Can't say for sure but that might be an issue. A compressor issue will most likely result in a message that says something like "Only normal height available", or something like that - it's been a while since I have...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

Try Land Rover Palm Beach, they are my go-to on line folks. You will likely talk to Philip - he is a marvel at finding part numbers. And it they don't have them in stock they will run them down and tell you who does.... Another good source is BoltDepot. It's an amazing website.

My 2016 LR4 has a factory installed second battery

I did once find a YouTube video by a guy in Australia who replaced the S/S battery with a full sized auxiliary battery. Sorry, I can't sent you the link, but it's out there somewhere... It was not a minor project... The S/S battery is an Exide EK151. Available numerous places, but I went with...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

The torque is 12NM per the mechanics manual. I would probably go with the Helicoil. I would order a new bolt from Rover then use that to spec the insert. That way you know you are getting the correct match.
