Weird suspension fault
We love our LR seat covers! Wicked expensive, but they really do the trick. The 2013 now has almost 90K, covers since day 1, and seats are factory perfect. Added covers to the 2016 when we bought it used, and seats look perfect as well. A great investment. -

I am currently doing the crossover pipes and water pump in the 2013 at 89K. Pipes look fine, but we shall see what happens when they are removed- I have a small leak at the water pump due to a failed gasket. I am recording as I go, its going to be a rather long video as i am being detailed in... -

Timing chain tensioners are a known issue with that year on the LR4, V8. Not sure about the LR2. -
Particulate on Valves - HELP!!
Intake is completely removed. Only a few drops of oil. Will vaccuum and clean as per above. Will investigate having the intake misted after its all back together from this project Thanks. -

I am most concerned about the loose particulate, I should have been much more careful to clean before I opened anything up. This old dog just learned a new trick! This particulate is sitting between the air intake and the valve covers - the clearance is so tight, I'm not sure it's even... -

That's a job well beyond anything I would attempt, but I have found that the mechanics manuals, although far from perfect, are useful. Not sure about your year and model but my manuals were $13.50 from Craigsmanuals, and they are immediate download. Something like your job should have...- txfromwi

I am replacing water pump, front crossover pipe and heater manifold pipe (rear crossover pipe). Finally got the air intake manifold totally off and I find this when I look down the air intake channels to the tops of the valves. I have been careful not to get crud down there, but maybe not... -

I was planning on a complete cooling system transplant, pump, both crossover pipes, hoses, and misc bits plus both belts. Or best to just go for the front crossover pipe as that is the most likely culprit??? I do have the luxury of taking my time and taking the truck out if service... -

The residual gunk is very UV active so I think it's cooked coolant rather than oil as the Rover coolant is UV active and the oil is not. And since the exact cause is unknown, and it all needs to come apart, well, it's a grand case of you might as well..... I will start the parts list tomorrow.... -

UV penlight and Yellow safety glasses in hand ($15 on Amazon), I find that the Rover LRN2279 coolant already has UV dye in it. Unlike others, I find nothing UV active except for a zippy tie that I installed myself on an earlier project - and the leak of course.... I find sticky thick... -

I will report back, but as the leak is something like 15mL over a month, it might take a while to diagnose... I can smell it, but it's clearly a very small leak. I will pressure test it tomorrow... I use OEM Rover coolant, LRN2279 from AB. -

A bit off topic, but I have an incredibly tiny, slow, slow, slow coolant leak in the 2013, 85K miles. Rather than just jump in whole hog and just do the entire project, I would like to UV test the coolant system first. ANY UV dye, or, being Rover, do we need something "special"? Thanks... -
Brake Sensor (Front) Damaged do I need to pull pads to install?
Agreed, you do not need to pull the pads to replace the sensor. On my 2013 and 2016 LR4's there is one front sensor on the drivers side and one rear sensor on the passengers side. Turn wheels to the right, remove wheel, jack it up and use appropriate safety stands as you will be laying... -

Replace audio head
If NAV is the only thing you are missing, I would not fix it at $4K. I am the only one in the family that likes the Rover NAV, everyone else just uses their phones. If you are like me and just want it working "because", then that's a different matter, but my personal limit would be about $500.
