    Windshield wipers obnoxiously scraping

303 Aerospace Protectant is also great for the exterior black plastic such as the windshield cowl, lower side trim and lower bumper trim. Works great on interior non-leather dash panels & plastic areas like the glove box doors.

    Windshield wipers obnoxiously scraping

Before trying to wax the windshield, maybe Rain-X is a better option. At least it is made for glass. But from my experience, you want just clean glass. I was recently behind a diesel truck that was spitting some sort of diesel dust onto my windshield. Soft Scrub cleaned it up nicely...

    Windshield wipers obnoxiously scraping

Try wiping the road grime off the blades using a paper towel and rubbing alcohol or an alcohol wipe. That usually works for me.

    Possible windshield prep?

^This. They will remove and replace everything including toll transponders and stickers. Not your job to take apart anything. If your windshield is heated, go with the Pilkington. The Chinese version (Fuyao?) has thicker heater element wires that are more noticeable.

    Possible windshield prep?

The one time they replaced the windshield and reused the trim clips, mine was howling once I hit 60 mph. Clips were on backorder and the old clips did not hold the trim tight so the trim could wobble. As speed increased, a gap would open up between the glass and pillar trim. The wind rushing...

    Possible windshield prep?

Replace the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield if it is faded or no longer sits flush against the glass. https://www.landrovermerriamparts.com/oem-parts/land-rover-cowl-grille-lr096164?c=bD0xJm49U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHM%3D Make sure the glass installer uses new clips under the A-pillar...

Yes! I nearly got out of the LR4 with the shift still in drive. Parking brake came on all by itself.

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

Here is a source for used parts including engines... https://www.roverlandparts.com/ I bought a used dash panel from them for our old LR3 and it was decent quality.

    Another Defender hint?

I test drove a diesel D5 and didn't like it how it drove at all. (Meaning I didn't like the engine) It seemed lethargic at all speeds. And the mpg difference didn't justify the higher cost for the D5 diesel. I remember test driving a diesel Q7 and the instant torque from a dead stop was...

    LR4 19” tire options!

I just took off the Nokian winter tires now that the ski season is over. For this summer, I went with the Falken Wildpeak AT Trail tires. https://www.falkentire.com/tires/light-truck-suv-cuv-tires/wildpeak/t-trail-tire They seem much quieter than the Copper Zeons and I hope they stay that...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Yes, better ride quality, better traction than the cheap OE Contis and I see a couple curb scuff marks on the tires that would have trashed the OE wheels that stuck out farther than the sidewalls.

    Another Defender hint?

Nice to see that the simple restart still cures most random electrical issues. Just the other day the radio sound on my LR4 went missing. Pull over, restart and the music is back.

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Visibility is very good, just a little limited out the rear. Planned to add a CR-V to the family motor pool for our teen drivers since I wanted them to have auto braking, lane keep assist, side and rear approach warning and other modern safety assist features that may keep them from an...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Good point - the transverse engine and short hood do allow for more passenger space. It's also tall, maybe only an inch or two shorter than an LR4. Ours is AWD and the system is amazing in snow and sand so far. Plus you can call up a screen that shows torque distribution levels at each wheel...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

It is annoying that the D5 and D110 are overall longer than an LR4 yet feel smaller inside. The D5 vehicle height is also too low...no stadium seating view for the rear passengers and even the driver is partially looking under the hood rather than looking over the hood. Guess we have to wait...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

I agree, that lower hatch also prevents our yellow lab from charging like a fullback when we open the top part. I'm wondering the same thing...what if I don't like the new Defender's tailgate, less luxurious interior, dashboard layout, rear leg room, rear cargo room, etc. Then I guess I keep...

Humming sound after vehicle is turned off

Do you have the heavy duty pack with the rear locking differential? If so, it could be the solenoid that activates the locker. We had a similar humming noise on our old LR3 at shut off that lasted about a minute. Turns out we were able to replace just the solenoid since we caught it early...

    Extended Warranty Debate

If you are only adding 1000 miles per year to this LR4 then no need to extend the warranty. From my experience, the expensive repairs and maintenance start at about 75,000 miles. Very unlikely you will spend $5114 in repairs in the next 2 years. However, if you now have 5K miles on it...

    Reliability

My neighbor has gone through 3 fuel pumps on her 2016 LR4 and I'm still on the original. I wonder if she runs hers down to empty on a regular basis. I know she puts in cheap gas, maybe that's why she needed all new injectors too. I try to use a top tier fuel like Mobil or Shell all the time.

    Reliability

At about 75,000 miles is when I had to make a significant maintenance investment that totaled over $3000. This included changing transfer case, differential and transmission fluids. New front control arms, stabilizer bar bushings, front hubs and new brakes. New fan clutch and another water...

    Another Defender hint?

I'm not sold on the Bronco Sport yet... "The Bronco Sport is based on the Ford Escape, and while we don't have specific information on its powertrain, expect it to offer the same setup underneath its chiseled body" "We expect the base engine to be a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder" Ever...

    Went to use hitch...surprise!

No, my AB wiring harness worked fine without any reprogramming. The AB installation video was very helpful. Only hard part was getting the wiring through the hole in the bumper. After rotating it a few times you figure it out.

^Exactly how I feel and you said it perfectly Umberto. I plan to order a Defender right after the first test drive.

Disco 4 steering issues - this one is strange

Are you low on power steering fluid? Could be a leak somewhere. Mine was the opposite, my steering felt sloppy and it turned out the steering rack was leaking fluid. With a new steering rack it now feels like it corners on rails. (Compared to how it felt before the repair)

    LR4 -> Defender anyone?

I wish. For some reason there was very little LR inventory that year. The new 2008 LR3 HSE with a rear locker we bought was trucked-in from another dealer 100 miles away. And it showed up with a different color driver's door that we had repainted to better match. There weren't any other...
