Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

Where's your sense of adventure and derring-do? We're Land Rover people. None of this is supposed to make any sense.

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

Someone should make a little ziptie tag thingie saying "This Plug Intentionally Left Blank" and we can issue one to every new LR4 member of this forum.

OEM Hitch Receiver Pin doesn't seem to be engaging all the way?

I don't have this hitch. The physics of this design never made sense to me starting with the aspect that you described. It just doesn't seem like a robust way of latching into the receiver. I know that tons of people use this hitch w/o incident but other than that I can't speak from direct...

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

I'm glad that Land Rover doesn't label this. It would take all the fun out of things for those of us who poke around our engine bays. This is definitely a FAQ here on this forum; I'm pretty sure I either asked or wondered about it myself. Good luck with your project(s)!

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

They charge what the market will bear. There is another pricing tier they offer that opens the device up to unlimited vehicles. This is mostly for shops. The transfer charge was around $35 if memory serves. The method for transferring online and only using email for certain parts of the process...

Check to be sure you can actually use your spare tire

I've bought a couple of nicely reconditioned factory LR rims online for a little over $200 each. You only really need a nice shape rim if you’re OCD or plan the 5-tire rotation.

    Rhino / ox hitch option

You mentioned that you didn’t hit the bolts with a torque wrench. On mine, everything snugged up nice and tight and square when I applied the prescribed torque to the bolts. If the washers haven’t deformed then you most likely haven’t tightened enough. My thought is that since the piece you bolt...

    Rhino / ox hitch option

What is this comment referring to? The Rhino is a Class IV rated hitch with a capacity in excess of the LR plow. The numbers for the LR and the Rhino hitch are readily available for comparison. I may have misunderstood what the comment was referring to.

Check to be sure you can actually use your spare tire

In my situation I had (very carefully) raised the cable to stow position with no spare underneath. My indy got an assistant to get underneath and tug on the carrier plate at the end of the cable as he slowly lowered it.

Check to be sure you can actually use your spare tire

In addition to rusting and seizing, these winches are also prone to having the cable bind up on itself. My indy told me that based on his experience, he would NEVER use a power drill especially to lower the wheel (not saying you were planning to do this). He also said to be extra careful when...

    LR4 audio from phone

And my song happened to be a Christmas tune. Drove me nuts and made all my passengers laugh every time it happened until I figured it out.

LR3 Expedition Rack on an LR4 with Extended Front Rails?

Better double check this. I also have extended rails and everything I’ve ever heard or read says that many if not most full length racks (including the OEM Expedition rack) require short rails.

Gap IIDTool Issue - Device not Found

I never used to believe that cables could “go bad” but it’s happened enough times that I start suspecting them if basic methods don’t fix an issue. Good luck.

Gap IIDTool Issue - Device not Found

I have had a few questions about registering my device and other things and Patrick always got back to me within 24 hours. It might be something simple especially if this will be your 3rd device. Personally I would wait for a reply to see if it’s something on your side.

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

All I know is that I love videos from Simon at PowerfulUK and smile every time he calls out to Tyler or says "right."

    Blinding splash issue

It’s a feature, not a bug. And if the wind is just right, the effect is even more spectacular as the deluge flies extravagantly way up over the top of the roof. If it doesn’t make you reflexively grin like a fool, you have no soul and your Land Rover Owners card will be revoked immediately. But...

How concerned should I be with a 150K miles LR4? Proactive repairs?

Sorry, I’ve never sourced it myself. I had my indy take care of that service.

    Selling LR4

These devices get snatched up within seconds of being offered. There’s a FB group for the IIDTool and they come up for sale every now and then. Again, they don’t last long but you might get lucky.

    Selling LR4

Sometimes when I'm out in the garage piddling around on the Rover I think I should see if I can pull any codes. Then I think "naw, why poke the sleeping bear??"

EBC Rotors + EBC GreenStuff 6000 Brake Pads Feedback

Thanks, my latest front setup is OEM rotors and pads. I will be more diligent and intentional about the bedding process next time. I have to admit that I was so overjoyed by the lack of noise that nothing else seemed important, lol. Of course who knows, by skipping the bedding process I may have...

    Selling LR4

I am in the same boat as far as actual usage. However I can't take the moral high ground in urging others to buy this because it took me 12 years from my first RR to get one myself. Even then it was mostly because a good friend sold his to me for a great price. Now that I've got it, I'm glad to...

EBC Rotors + EBC GreenStuff 6000 Brake Pads Feedback

Is there an actual process, or do you just avoid spirited driving for the first phase? Honestly I haven't done anything differently after a new brake job in terms of driving style (which does veer toward the "responsibly spirited" side). Shame on me.
