    Heated windshield not working

I don’t know enough about electrical systems to give an educated answer. But given the fact that my entire boat is energized by 30 amp shore power, it does warrant some caution IMO. Probably apples and oranges but intuitively it seems like overfusing a circuit carries at least theoretical risks...

    Brake question

I've experimented with a few rotor/pad alternatives, but after the last experience I'm back to OEM. My LR4 was making ear-splitting screeches EVERY time I touched the brake. It was embarrassing and annoying, compounded by my wife making fun of me every time I would walk through the garage door...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

This is an accurate and comprehensive recap, thanks. I like to revisit and brush up on nerdy oil stuff periodically, such as every time someone asks about it here. :D

    Costco Mobil 0w20

I have made a personal decision to stick with the OEM recommended Castrol which I think it was @ryanjl who dubbed it “Gucci oil” lol. Re price, it comes in at an eye-watering $11-$13 PER QUART so yeah, it’s all relative when you compare it to Mobil1. Notwithstanding my decision to use Castrol...

    Brake Controllers & LR4

Nice haul! You’ll be set. Make sure you’ve got access to a good torque wrench for installing the Rhino (aka Ox) hitch. Re the trailer harness, fitting the interface into the cutout in the bumper takes some finagling. Just as you start getting irritated, it will slip into place like a puzzle...

Black Friday rim discounts/info! Did some research today...

I think the Evo's are nice looking wheels. Some people talked about the ease of removing the branding decals if those are not your thing.

    Rhino / ox hitch option

Correct, Atlantic British wiring harness is aftermarket but high quality and solid fit. I’m a fan of stock OEM for a lot of stuff but this item is easy to recommend.

Rear gate access drop. How to disable?

Even the uniform (very slight) drainage grade on my garage floor causes my LR4 to burp a bit almost every time I get home and park. Sometimes I’ll loiter for a few seconds to try to catch it happening and see it settle in. Oddly satisfying. Or maybe not so odd for a LR guy. Everyone knows we’re...

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

They even got me to accept the needle and steady drip fix of their iPhone Upgrade Program. I just became a lifetime lessee of iPhones and will never stop paying for the fun.

Decal Removal. Bubble repair // wash // wax // seal

Re the stench of IronX...I tried my best to warn @CincyRovers about it when I passed along your recommendation to him. He still commented on how God-awful it was, lol. I think the harsh smell makes a lot of people think that it can’t possibly be safe to use on painted surfaces but that’s exactly...

Decal Removal. Bubble repair // wash // wax // seal

Robert, that was truly a hideous dealer sticker. After you hit it with Goo-Gone I hope you sprinkled some holy water on it for good measure. @DaytonaRS7 just gave you best practices for maintaining your finish. I do a slimmed down version of his process. I like a good detergent wash down, clay...

Rear gate access drop. How to disable?

I took it to mean that he opens the top half of the lift gate before the Rover settles and rebalances. This leaves him less headroom than he had prior to rebalancing, so he bumps his head. Hence his question can you override the rebalancing process. But maybe we’re both confused, Troy!

    Rhino / ox hitch option

I understand!! Did yours come with trailer wiring already installed? If not I can highly recommend the Atlantic British wiring kit.

    Rhino / ox hitch option

This hitch has a rather small but loyal following. I have never seen one offered on the used market. If you do find one, be aware that some of the oval washers that come with it are designed to deform as you torque them down around the cast metal portions of your Rover’s underside. I don’t know...

    Rhino / ox hitch option

I would definitely install it per the directions and use all provided parts. Can you line up the hook with an open tread in your tire or is it way too tight overall?

Should I buy this Low Mileage 2012 (70k)? (Pics & Video)

Congrats on getting the last of the V8s. Great looking Rover! You should be able to buy a blank fob and transplant the guts of your existing key to freshen things up. But you'll need a GAP tool to DIY the programming of new spare fobs. My 2011 had the big chunky fobs and my 2013 has the more...

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

Form and function are intertwined in terms of my enjoyment of the LR4 form factor. Try stuffing a dresser, leather chair and ottoman, lamps, tools, luggage and a 43" flatscreen into a D5. (actual loadout during one particular college move and only one example of the benefit of over 90 sq ft of...

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

I will ask him when I get a chance. I would not read too much into this anecdote. I wasn't offering it as an example of a common issue with our model of LR. That said, one of my indy shops is reluctant to do the pan swap because he has seen more than a few of them (DIY or other shops' work)...

LR4s out there holding their value maybe more than just quite well

Sounds like it was a series of unfortunate events. Transmission fluid change, incorrect fluid used, most of the fluid had leaked out by the time problems were detected and they got stranded a few hundred miles from home. This is how he described it to me. He's currently getting a 68K-mile used...
