Is buying an LR4 w/ 66k miles madness?

Wow, 140k miles in 4 years is quite a bit! Glad to hear you've had relatively minor problems - I have 45k on my 2011 and hope to keep it several more years. I'm relying on my Geico MBI policy to keep me in the clear on any big repairs. I recently replaced a windshield washer pump on another...

LR4 car camping / dead battery

I've been car camping (3-6 days each time) a few times with my 2011 LR4, and never had an issue with a dead battery. I didn't hide either key fob (I typically travel with both of them on longer trips), and I'm sure one of them was either near or maybe in a bag inside the car. Maybe I just got...

Cooper Zeon LTZ Off-Road tires on Stock 19" Wheels

I have a 2011 LR4 and needed new tires at about 34k miles. After last winter, I knew the OEM Contis were not acceptable - I found myself sliding down hills after coming to a complete stop! I don't do much off-roading, although I'd like to, and I wanted something that was comfortable on regular...

    Leaking roof

After about 20 months of no issues, my 2011 LR4 started leaking through the airbag holes after a recent storm. Dealer was surprised to report that the drains were installed backwards, so that all the water was trying to drain to the passenger side (I think that's how they described it, but...

    LR4 Rear ended

You should check the police reports carefully, since CarFax seems to rely on those when reporting an accident for a vehicle. When I traded in another SUV to purchase my LR4, it showed that my trade-in was in an accident (it had been rear-ended) but it also showed that the airbags had deployed...

    Lr4 Brakes

I have no idea how some people on this board are getting so much life out of their brakes - I'm at 26k miles on my 2011 LR4 and probably heading pretty soon toward my second set of front and rear brake pads and rotors. It was recommended (although not required) by both the dealer and a local...

    squealing brakes

Which non-OEM pads and rotors did you install? I'm at about 26k and, based on the brake pedal travel, feel like I'm due soon for my third set of brakes (first set was replaced at 14k).

    Looking for Tires

I'm going to be in the market for new tires pretty soon -- is there a noticeable difference in the Coopers on the highway (noise, handling) compared to the stock Conti's? I've seen the Coopers on a few LR4's locally and they look great, and sound like a great mix of on-road / off-road driving...

    Seat back protector

I gave up on seatback protectors a while ago, and just rely on some good leather cleaner every once in a while to get them clean... I even bought one of those containers of Lexol leather wipes to keep in the car, although I think a clean microfiber cloth and a bottle of Mothers leather cleaner...

    LR4 Squeaking brakes!

When I changed my brake pads last summer (at 14k miles), my dealer advised that while I didn't need to change the rotors, not doing so could lead to some squeaking. They did advise that the brake performance would not be affected if I only changed the pads, but said a lot of customers that...

Headlights with factory HID, LED and Adaptive beam

sparrky, I second what David said above. I've had my DDM Tuning Kit installed for about 14 months, and have had zero issues with it. I think I bought the 5000k bulbs, though, as I was going for the whiter light, but I still see some blue in them. Installation was not too difficult (see prior...

    LR4 Door Cupholders

I find those large holders are good for larger cups/bottles, such as the wider Gatorade bottles. I once purchased something called an "octopus" cupholder for an older car that had no cupholder - works great and something like that might fit in that space (you can cut down the edges if needed to...

    25000 miles, $950 front brakes?

Just had my '11 LR4 in for its 15k visit, and was told I have about 3-4mm left on the brake pads (I have about 14k miles). They said the rotors are OK, and don't need replacing, but that sometimes when you replace the pads and not the rotors it can lead to some squeaking (although performance...

    Yakima or Thule Box

I use an older Thule Cascade box (15 cu ft) with the LR OEM roof racks and they work great together. The only issue I've had (which would be true of any setup on this car) is that it can be difficult to get up high enough to easily access the contents of the roof box, since the LR4 is a tall...

    Side protection moldings!!!!

I agree - I think all cars should have rubber bumpers too! I find it ironic, that, in the attempt to make modern cars look sleeker, manufacturers have taken virtually all protective items (like rubber) off of bumpers. Yet, when you look at most bumpers now, they look like crap since they are...

    Side protection moldings!!!!

I noticed that too. If you look at the stock LR4 photos on the Land Rover web site, the ones with the side moldings show them in the lower position, I think closer to where mine are installed. Not to say one way is better looking/more effective than the other, but I assume/hope the dealer...

    Side protection moldings!!!!

I had them installed by my dealer, along with a few other accessories (rear lamp guards & roof rack). I wanted to do it myself, but after trying to decipher the instructions on how to measure properly I decided that for the $100 or so the dealer charged for the installation I'd be better off...

    Experience installing short roof rails

I have the bright silver short roof rails on my LR4 (Orkney Grey), and they work great with my Thule Cascade cargo box (about 6 years old). Short rails work fine since you want to mount the roof box as far to the rear of the car as possible. I actually ordered them in black from the dealer...

    Wipers

Bosch Icons 422A/422B - $16.99 each on Amazon - been using these on my cars for a few years with great results - in fact I replaced the OEM wipers right after delivery and found them to be a big improvement over the OEMs (that the dealer is apparently charging a small fortune for). Not sure...

    Nav Update

I have the TomTom nav app on my iPhone 4 - paid $50 for it about 2 years ago, and I've been getting free map and software updates ever since. I also pay $20 a year for their HD traffic service, which works much better than XM traffic or other traffic services I've seen - it is always up to date...

    2012 Updates

but do you still have to press the button on the iphone to activate Siri? I think that's what I've read in the past on this forum -- the best scenario would be if the voice command button on the steering wheel could automatically activate Siri, so that I never have to take the phone out of my...

    2012 Updates

I had my voice command button activated by my dealer recently (they needed to prod LRUSA a bit), and to be honest, I don't find myself using it anyway. My main goal was to be able to use it to operate the phone hands-free, but between unintuitive commands, poor voice recognition, and the need...

    Should I Go For It?

I had similar misgivings this summer when I was shopping. I was coming from a GMC lemon already, so I figured if I'm going to drive a lemon, let it at least be a nice lemon. I'm 5 months in (about 7k miles), and the truck has been fantastic and 100% reliable so far... no regrets here, even...

Installation question: lamp guards and rear access ladder

alegrialv...as requested here's a pic from the front/side. You'll see that in addition to the rear lamp guards, I've also installed the short roof rails and cross bars, the side molding and mud flaps... have had it for about 5 months, loving the car so far.
