2012 LR4 V8 122K miles, owned since new, always regularly serviced and oil/filter every 7k or so
Over Labor Day weekend, check engine light came on with:
- P2406 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense - Circuit High
I had not recently fueled up and it's actually a newish fuel...
Yes, it's capped. I figured biting the bullet and doing this fix was a lot better than trading it in. I really love not having car payments!
And there really is nothing out there I'd love as much as this one. Although I still hate that the LR4 doesn't have the additional passenger cup holder...
Here is my parts list and cost breakdown for the timing chain tensioner work on my 2012 LR4 with 112+k mileage.

WOW! I'm needing this on driver's right side for sure and I've had it done multiple times between 8 years of my LR3 and now going on 9 years of my LR4. I dread this bill every time. But I also need new rotors and full brake service, so I'm going to bite the bullet and have all done at once. I...
I went through a number of bulbs on both sides before I finally went to the dealer thinking something was causing an error internally. It was about every other month that one side or the other went out and the bulbs were catastrophically failing. Like exploding or melting! Turns out that I...
Have you replaced the windshield in that vehicle? The seals around the new windshield was how water got into mine. I ended up trading my LR3 in because of all the water in the sill. The idea that all those wires were sitting in it for god knows how long made me very weary of continuing to own...
I have 2 Great Pyrenees mixes each hovering around 100 lbs, one pushes 115. When I open the rear hatch, having the lower tail gate still up keeps them in the back until I can grab their leads. Having 215# rushing at me is NOT something I'm looking forward to now that the tailgate is a thing of...
Yup, but I've now had the LR4 8 years and no problem! LR3 started leaking in year 3 of 8. I think it was the windshields. I had them clean out the sunroof rails and everything else each time I replaced the glass or whenever it leaked heavily. Once I was just sitting in the drive-through for...
I ended up trading in my 2005 LR3 for a 2012 LR4 because of the frequent leaks into both footwells. The final straw was after one bad storm, I slammed on the brakes in traffic and a tsunami appeared on the passenger side! It was all down in the rails with the wiring and everything. That was enough.
I wish I had known about this when I got the full LR mesh cargo rack! It's a PITA to remove or even tilt a little to transport longer items. However, it's great at holding back 2 100# dogs.
Question about the crossover/water pump/timing chain. I'm just over 100K on my 2012. Should these be done proactively or am I waiting for signs of wear?
I have the OEM hitch and wiring and dammit if I don't scrape skin off my knuckles every time I try to uncouple the trailer wiring from the vehicle. It's so close to the razor-sharp plastic moulding of the bumper cover. If I'm towing often, I put on an extension adapter and let it dangle.

A few years ago, I used my LR3 to tow a 2,700-lb car on a UHaul trailer. I figured it would be fine as it was way under the recommended weight. At about 55, the transmission seemed as if it wanted to shift. It was as if the clutch...
