My 2006 LR3 did same thing. The most annoying thing was the downshift, very hard and really felt like the drivetrain or tranny was damaged. This was also occuring after I just bought the vehicle.

Mine has been that way for close to 40k miles. Has not gotten any worse that I can tell but it may be so slow of a progression that I don't notice. I will get fixed shortly but it runs good and is reliable. I don't want to drive cross country with it though.....
I have the same issue and facing a replacement/rebuild in the future. Curious if you hear a high pitched whine at highway or greater speeds. Mine starts at about 75 and continues to get louder as speed increases. I was told by mechanic that that was indicative of the differential going bad...
Yes, it kills me to take it to someone else. For the cost they charge for mediocre filter and oil......you can put the best in your car and know that you did it right. Some of these quick oil change places scare me. Not as much as getting pinned under the Rover though..lol. :eek:
Have wanted to do my own oil but the random venting of the air suspension spooks me. I guess if you put it to off-road height, disconnect battery and use jacks you should be good.......right? Need to get some jackstands!
