    2012 vs. 2015 LR4 HSE LUX

The SC 3.0 engine isn't new - there are actually quite a few companies that can tune it. I've been chatting with two companies regarding a reflash and pulley upgrade. Gains are showing up to 60 wheel HP with pulley+tune. That's quite respectable. Assuming the numbers aren't too overly inflated...

    2012 vs. 2015 LR4 HSE LUX

^If we're generalizing, I'd take FI over NA any day. So much more potential.

    Meridian audio system

Ha, then I have absolutely no intention of listening to the upgraded system!

    Meridian audio system

I haven't heard the 900W system and I'm sure it's a noticeable upgrade over the base system, but I have to say the 380W system is nothing to shake a stick at. It is fantastic in my opinion. I'm also usually one to upgrade the sound in my vehicles, but I feel the 380W requires nothing. I bought...

    Disabling 2014 ECO Switch

However you want to look at it . But idling is harder on a vehicle than restarting and consumes more fuel. You don't have to believe me... do some research.

    Disabling 2014 ECO Switch

Regarding #2 above - what you've stated is a common myth that's been debunked numerous times. Same as the myth that starting the engine consumes more fuel than idling. That said, I'm not high on the Eco Start either. But, it does make me feel minutely better about myself to not be uselessly...

    MY14 LR4: JotaDe's Thoughts

ECO mode can be turned on/off at any time, driving or stopped, and in any gear. It's a funny little system that takes some getting used to. After coming to a stop, ECO mode will turn the engine off. If you unclip your seatbelt, the car will think you're getting out and will automatically shut...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

^V8 feels smoother when accelerating from a stop. I feel LR/Jag did a better job tuning the responsiveness and smoothness for any given throttle input at low speeds. At speed, they're the same.

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

Wasn't my simulation. www.automobile-catalog.com. And why would I manipulate it? Who cares? I have no dog in this fight. And only shady shops manipulate a dyno (ie. 360WHP+ stock turbo Subaru STI's) and only suckers believe inflated numbers. Everyone likes to justify what they have in their...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

^No, but there are marketing materials showing the difference in torque curves. One is a mountain shape, the other is a plateau shape. My real-world comparison is from lining up an '11 LR4 and a '14 LR4 side by side and doing pulls. I'd be open to accepting Paypal donations to help fund the cost...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

Indeed. See bold. Matches my real life comparison (for which I don't have log data). I feel like the outnumbered V6 guy here getting beat up on by the V8'ers.

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

Just saying.... The attached pic is a spec-based comparison of the V8 and SC V6. With heavier loads, maybe that's where you'd see the difference, but I'm not convinced. Don't forget the V8 torque is like a mountain - steep build, peak, steep decline. The SCV6 torque curve is steep, then flat...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

To be honest, I'd be surprised if you would have noticed any difference at all. In fact, the negative effects on power at altitude for an FI engine are less dramatic than a NA engine. I'm not just saying this... I have no vested interest in this one way or the other, we just have the luxury of...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

What I'm explaining is precisely NOT the supposed loss of torque. What I'm explaining is throttle mapping. x% of applied throttle = x% of TB plate opening and resulting IDC, load etc.; the calibration on the SCV6 is such that you need a lot of throttle to get the output you would expect. Ready...

    NAV8 vs SCV6 Comparison

Honestly, the biggest 'issue', if you can even call it that, with the SCV6 is the throttle mapping. Land Rover has tuned the vehicle to be incredibly lazy off the line thus requiring a fair bit of throttle input (more than you'd expect) before it takes off at a reasonable pace. This tends to...

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

I hear you, but spray paint, especially black, will eventually scratch and show fingerprints, something the silver 'trim' (more like dinner plate) hides relatively well.

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

That's what I was referring to as well. That silver plate has a fair bit of surface area! A high quality vinyl wrap would do the trick... it's just getting the shifter trim surround unclipped that's the tricky part.

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

Haha, yeah, I despise any squeak, rattle, or creak. I've isolated my noise to the upper glove box lower hinges - it's not the cheap plastic clasp that's creaking, but the lower plastics. I need to figure out how to drop the glove boxes so I can felt tape the crap out of everything!

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

^The glare bothers me less than the f___'ing glove box creak that I can't figure out haha! I'll take a look at it - these interiors are all like puzzles. Mostly tension clips and the odd screw, but it's all plastic clipped into plastic for the most part.

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

Loss of the LR logo wouldn't hurt my feelings - it's all over the car (interior and exterior) anyway. I've done a lot of interior trim wraps on various cars. You have to physically pull the trim (ie. dismantle the shifter trim and surround) to do a good job and to properly wrap the corners...

Ideas on stopping the glare from the MY14 shift knob plate?

Agreed. The only real 'fix' would be to apply vinyl wrap to the shifter trim/plate. Something like 3M Dinoc or the like. It literally does light up like a beacon when the sun hits it right... and it can also get hot enough to cook an egg.

What kind of price negotiation to use when ordering a 2014 LR4?

North of the US border, because of the limited supply, dealers are selling above MSRP... and buyers are actually paying. Crazy.

    V8's "D" vs "S" mode

Pretty much spot on. However, the part I bolded may have been true 10+ years ago, but there are a plethora of AWD dyno's on the market today. Dynojet, Dyno Dynamics, Dynapack, Mustang, Maha... there are many and widely accessible. Engine tuning is non-existent in this particular market, but...

Looking black OEM cross bar for '14 LR4

If you're up for it, painting the LR4 chromers is a pretty simple process. Lightly sand them, apply a little surface prep/etch, and put a single coat of POR-15 on them. It's goes on textured with a brush but dries flat and smooth. I guarantee you the paint on the bars will outlast your LR4.

I ended up pulling the trigger on a Causeway Grey HSE - all the more reason to see what EM options are available. I'll post up whatever info I come across.
