    Lift rods?? Need advice

Lift rods don't help for tire clearance. If you want a lift I'd do it via the iid tool that way you can quickly have as much or little as you like and go back and forth between various settings.

Do i NEED a roof rack to get a waffle board?

I've no idea what a waffle board is, but I've hauled 5 people + 5 sets of skis by putting down one seat in each of the two rows so 2 in front + 2 in middle + 1 in back.

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

Looks great . You may want to slam the suspension to check that it still clears when bottomed out.

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

It will depend quite a bit on the specific tire model and the wheels you are running. KO2s run small and you can probably fit 265/65 ok in stock form. ST Maxx run large so a 265/60 is as big as will fit in stock form. I have the ST Maxx in 265/60 and love them. No rubbing, but also almost...

Steel wheels ride quality vs. alloy

I don't have steelies on the Landy but I've had plenty on other things and have never been able to tell a difference in ride or performance. They certainly balance just fine.

    LR4 and an odd 20in tire size..fit?

It's not really any work to bolt on 18s. I wouldnt own it if I could not get 18s on it. For my purposes sturdy e rated at or mt/at hybrids make it useable. I don't see the point in a 6k lbs truck on car tires. I also live in the mountains.

    LR4 and an odd 20in tire size..fit?

That's definitely not going to fit in stock form. My 265/60r18 st maxxs barely fit. Also note that most lift options don't help because turning clearance actually gets worse and they don't change where it bottoms out. To fit bigger tires the main way forward is to cut out the frame bits that...

Land Rover LR4 H7 to H8 Battery Upgrade DIY

Thanks for posting this. I just replaced my battery with an H8 AGM and followed your instructions on the iid tool. Best I can tell it’s a happy Landry now!

Any other car brand wheels fit the LR4 ?

It's not. I looked everywhere on them.

Any other car brand wheels fit the LR4 ?

No idea, but the x5 they normally are on us only a few hundred lbs lighter than the LR4. My reasoning is that German engineering and manufacturing + about 400lbs extra weight is likely still better than what came on it. I've got about 10k miles on them and they have not fallen off yet.

Any other car brand wheels fit the LR4 ?

I put BMW X5 style 99 18" wheels on my LR4. That required minor clearancing of the caliper fins and standard put nuts. I love the look of them and it allows fitment of real tires.

    LR4 Low Compression

Since smoke comes out the exhaust it's not carbon holding a valve open--thatd be on the intake side.

I've also not had issues hitting. The bikes are quite high and it doesn't stick out nearly as far as a 4 bike tray. I can't imagine ocoming close to hitting on a paved public road and most dirt roads should be fine too. Also the setup is configurable so if you needed you could raise the rack...

    Cooper st maxx 265 60 18

I'm running BMW style 99 wheels. My local land rover shop (roadside werx) recently started sourcing steel 18s to fit a lr4 that look pretty good. Not sure of the brand.

I'm running them, awesome tires and the perfect size for the LR4.

    Emergency brake horror story

Nothing beats a mechanical hand brake as far as im concerned. Fwiw I tried this on my LR4 (while in it) and the ebrake stayed on when I turned the car off regardless of whether my foot was on the brake. The only time I've gotten it to go off without me turning it off is by trying to drive off...

Anyone install an electric brake control?

In the UK they generally have tiny trailers and drive really, really slowly when towing. Very different environment from the US in this regard (I've lived on both sides of the Atlantic).

    Another tire/wheel thread: 19" vs 18"

The brakes do fit under 18s quite easily. Imo it's pointless to have a big heavy off roader on wheels that have no tire options suitable for off roading or serious towing. Might as well buy a awd wagon and enjoy much better handling.

    Another tire/wheel thread: 19" vs 18"

Ditto. 18s are still fairly short sidewalls and not going to flex like a 37 " tire on a 15" rim, but getting to 18" means you can get real truck tires. The sidewalls on an e rated mud terrain tire Re massively thicker and stronger than you will find on xl rated 19s. IIRC my 19" Michelin tires...

    Showoff Your LR4

I've only got one kid riding so far, but it's really handy being able to tote friends, etc. Tomorrow we are riding with two other people so it'll be 4 bikes on the rack. Living in CO we get lots of friends flying in to visit and play.

I don't but I'll try to remember to snap one next time it's loaded up. The bikes hang vertically. Super fast and easy loading/unloading and only the tires touch the rack. It's a Recon Rack, Gen 2, 6-bike model. Also reclines for easy tail gate/hatch access and has a built in bottle opener :)

So here is why after owning (4) Land Rovers I don't think I will ever own one again.

That's really annoying. Even my 2011 LR4 works fine with my Pixel. They should be able to fix this!

Finally took the plunge and joined the forum!

Welcome! There is a lot that can be done to enhance off road capability. I dont know of anything to increase power other than swapping in a supercharged 5.0L.
