Picked up an '06 LR3 SE dealer loaner
The factory roof rails are horrible. Very weak and they have a low load limit. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend the Yakama system. Yakima's are very versitle, good looking, and last forever. Check it out: -

Dumb Question - Does LR3 come with a Tow Bar?
You'll have to buy that along with the wiring harness. I can't remember how much they cost, sorry. But be sure you understand the towing capacities. Yes, the LR3 can pull 7700# max. but it only has a max tongue weight of 550#. This is a major limiting factor that you should consider before... -

Heavy Towing
Any trailer over 3000# requires some sort of braking system, usually electric. These brakes are useless without a brake controller. I have the Tekonsha Prodigy controller ($125) and it works great. -

Another "is this normal" question
Yup, extreme stress on the power steering components. I always will turn the wheel to lock and then back off an inch or so. You can literally hear the power steering system groaning when you hold the wheel to lock, but this is the same in EVERY car that I've ever driven.
