LR4 "Gearbox not in Park" - Dial shifter stuck in Drive

Title says it all. Wife came home this morning and the dial shifter wouldn't shift out of Drive. I activated the e-brake and turned the car off (probably not a great idea?) thinking I would disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes and see if that helped. It didn't. Now the car won't start, the...

    Lower control arm replacements

Had my brakes swapped yesterday and the mechanic noticed my LCA's were making noise when the car came to a stop. I hadn't noticed anything up to that point (not saying it didn't exist), but when he hopped in and did a rolling stop at slow speeds, the sound was much more noticeable. He also...

    Replacement engine

I can't help you with sourcing a new / remanufactured engine so apologies for that, however I'm curious what your stance is on simply sourcing another used LR4 instead of going down the path of rebuilding an engine? Even at a cost of $10,500, you're close to 1/3 the cost of a newer (2012+ model...

    Showoff Your LR4

I agree with @ryanjl - you've lost approach angle, front ground clearance, and from the photos it looks like you've effectively nullified your ability to use the front factory tow hook. I'd say losing those three qualities for the marginal protection bull bars offer is not worth it.

Damn that's a great red on the LR4.

4x4 sPOD or comparable power distribution suggestions?

I haven't pulled the trigger yet on either - but I'm leaning toward the SP-9100 primarily due to the cost difference. Once I do the install I'll make sure to swing back around and update this post with how it went and what I think.

Anyone running Tuffant steel wheels yet?

18" ET44 on Nitto Ridge Grapplers 265/65/18 which have performed beautifully in a lot of different situations and environments. Pictures below.

4x4 sPOD or comparable power distribution suggestions?

I'm not a fan of cutting into the interior either which is why the 4x4 sPOD looked like a good option. You run an ethernet cable through the fire-wall and connect to the switch panel that can be mounted using tradition suction-cup/sticky mounts in the cabin. That sounds awesome but I would...

4x4 sPOD or comparable power distribution suggestions?

I purchased the ProSpeedUK Discovery 4 Front Spotlight Mounts with two TripleR-750 LazerLamps and I'm now in the process of...looking for a way to actually hook them up. I probably should've figured that out before I actually bought the lights, but here we are. Since I know next to nothing...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

I'm not sure my hood or visibility would appreciate a massive 100lb spare tire mounted on the front. BUT, don't tempt me.

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

    I have a non-stock 32in. tire, and unfortunately I don't think it'll fit without deflating. Heard different?

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

I've heard you can deflate a full-size and fit it underneath the vehicle, but that doesn't change the fact that the spare-tire is in a terrible location for a trail vehicle. If you ever get bogged down in heavy snow/mud/sand, good luck getting the spare tire out. This is why many people find...

Question for LR4 owners that switched to 18" wheels

265/65 R18's with TuffAnt MKII ET27's on Nitto Ridge Grappler here. What TuffAnt has told you is exactly my experience. My Ridge Grappler's were brand new and in full lock to the right it would rub on the frame horn (sounds weird at first but it's not doing any damage to the tire/vehicle). Oddly...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

I was wrong, I had 68,000+ miles on my old LR4 while the new one has 76,000+, so really it's an 8,000 mile difference give or take. LR4 HSE 2016 [OLD] (68,000 miles) options: Silver Edition Package Black Lacquer Finish Interior Trim Black Design Pakcage w/ 20 Inch Black Wheels Climate Comfort...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

Update: After some thoughtful replies from this community, I decided to make a move and trade-up for an LR4 that has the HD package. Funny enough, the Landmark Edition LR4 with 76,000 miles I found was at the same dealership I purchased my first LR4 from. I was worried it would be a...

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

I appreciate all the replies - you've all confirmed what I feared to be the case: I need the HD package. It's a damn shame I didn't focus more on that particular package when I picked up my current LR4 because that would have saved me the headache I'm dealing with now. My current LR4 has...

    Got some wheel/tire questions

So you're running the stock 255/50 R20 tire and want to upgrade to the 265/50 R20 TerrainContact A/T tire? The size difference between the two is negligible. Functionally, you might notice a bit more road noise and a slight change in driving characteristics. As for MPG, you won't see a...

Could you give me your opinion on why you think it would be a deal killer?

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

My 2016 LR4 did not come equipped with the HD package, and at the time of purchase I didn't think it would be a problem. I've been in some pretty sticky situations and Terrain Response has always figured it out (so far), but as I get comfortable with the vehicle I'm pushing it harder and harder...

    Rotating full-size spare tire

When I bought new tires I planned on bringing the 5th full-size spare into rotation but I never got around to it. Since then I've put maybe 7 to 8 thousand miles on my tires, and I'm wondering if it's still safe to rotate my spare tire into the mix considering the wear difference. Common...

    Another Defender hint?

I feel ignorant since I've never noticed nor considered this a reality in Europe but...holy hell, what? This must be what it's like for Europeans when they hear we don't use the metric system.

    Trailer hitch & Wiring harness

I have a 2016 LR4 SCV6 with no hitch or wiring harness. After some digging, I've managed to find a used OEM LR4 hitch assembly on Ebay. I would've preferred the AB hitch (LR019990ABP), but it's OOS and more than likely won't be in stock in enough time for my trip in the first week of August...

    Another Defender hint?

Alright, so what should the Defender be compared to then? The Ford Explorer?
  25. Oddboy

    Another Defender hint?

The primary issue I see is that the Defender starts at $49,000. And that's a *wink wink* $49,000, meaning good luck getting one of these off the lot for less than $60,000 once they're optioned out (appropriately) and have the unnecessary dealer accessories thrown on. The Wrangler Rubicon isn't...
