Hey there Powershift. You've got me questioning my life's choices. Took my 2011 LR4 in for its 150K check up last month. Went to an independent Rover only shop. Asked about the timing chain issue. Update: The local NAPA shop was able to get me the parts overnight from their warehouse. NAPA "Adaptive One" polymer coated rotors, NAPA rebuilt calipers (one the TRW/Land Rover body), and the OEM TRW pads. Maybe not my preferreds, but "in stock" is golden. Hey, So I followed up on checking the temperatures of the rotors. Purchased an instant read IR thermometer. Started out with all the rotors cold at 46 degrees. Drove ~4 miles on mostly flat neighborhood roads at ~40mph. Didnt' really feel the shudder during the short drive, but felt something...- woodyNwoodinville

JLG- The shudder happens all the time. Particularly noticeable at speed. My thought was the rotor is warped and throwing the shudder into the steering wheel while driving. Then feel it again (but differently) when braking to a stop. Could a worn/loose wheel bearing induce wobble in the rotor...- woodyNwoodinville

PaulLR3- Interesting you say you replaced your calipers at 130K. I just crested 135K on my 2011. So Atlantic British has what they call "OEM" calipers for the fronts listed at $370 each. Do we think those are brand new, or rebuilt? Websites doesn't say. Alternatively NAPA sells re-manufactured...- woodyNwoodinville

Thanks for your suggestions. I measured the temps of the rotors using a digital meat thermometer. Kind of shoved it into the vents on the edge of the rotor. Have an infrared model on order now (been looking for an excuse to get one). Not being one who enjoys auto mechanics, I'd be apt to...- woodyNwoodinville

Thanks, Forgot to mention, the shop says the caliper is FINE (but do we believe them?). How hot can a caliper get and still maintain its integrity? If the rotor is 340 degrees is that more than the caliper can withstand? Thanks for your suggestion greiswig. I may give that a try.- woodyNwoodinville
