    Cylinder 5 Misfire

I sprayed a bunch of seafoam spray into the cylinder and let it sit overnight. By morning it had drained out completely. Fired it up and it was still misfiring. Cleared codes, and while waiting a week for some ATS 505 oil system cleaner to arrive, been driving it in the meantime and no misfires...

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

This is giving me hope! Was there a test that showed it was hpfp? Are there two high pressure pumps? I’ve had almost identical engine codes as Phil did above.. confirmed cylinder 5misfire with 316 code, and pending code for misfire on all other cylinders. Leakdown test shows some air getting...

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

Gotcha yeah I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that. At this point though, with the tests I’ve done, what else could it be?

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

There was a bunch of grime at the top of the cylinder which may look like pitting in my terrible video. I'll go in for another look. I doubt that's coolant, I believe it's leftover oil from the wet compression test- I'm positive I squirted too much in there, and I got a lot of smoke out the...

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

I have a service record that describes an incident where the original owner pulled into the LR parking lot saying the low coolant light was on, and that when they opened the hood the reservoir was empty. Front crossover had sprung a leak, and was replaced. I have no idea how long it was driven...

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

Welp, I just did a leakdown test! I can hear air hissing in oil filler cap. Nothing from exhaust, and no bubbles in coolant reservoir. To listen for intake valve, would that be thru the throttle body or somewhere else? Was hearing hissing generally from the pass side of the engine (not from the...

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

This makes sense to me regarding the inconsistency. Are you saying add some seafoam through the spark plug hole? Which Seafoam product in particular would you recommend using? They have a few. Thanks very much for your reply

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

Yeah I believe he did the correct bank. It’s a very popular Land Rover indie. Also when he replaced the ignition coil afterwards it was the correct one on passenger side.

    Cylinder 5 Misfire

Hey all, hoping I can lean on the collective wisdom here to help me figure out a misfire on my 2013 LR4. 147k miles. Apologies in advance for the novel of a post, just wanna get all the evidence in one place :) Here's the history up till today.. Last December, got a P0305 and P0316 code...

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

Which relays/fuses do you pull on the 5L v8 to do compression test? I need to test just cylinder 5 since I have an ongoing misfire on that cylinder that I'm trying to diagnose.

    2011 LR4 Misfire/rough idle

Hey Phil, I'm having similar symptoms on my LR4. What was the outcome of your issue?

    Radiator Replacement

How was it refilling the coolant system? I have to replace my radiator too and don’t want to F up the vacuum fill. Any tips?

    Timing chain…

Might be above my pay grade to further diagnose as you suggest. Are cam actuator degrees and timing PIDs something I can see with the gap tool? The maintenance you had on yours, was it throwing misfire codes too? Are you saying here the misfires and possible chain slack are related? What part...

    Timing chain…

145k miles, 2013 LR4 5.0 with original timing chain. Can anyone provide opinions on this sound from cold start, and how much slack is on the chain through the oil cap? I'd estimate I could push the chain down like a half inch or so, pressing decently ******* it. The past month or so, it's been...

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

Radiator was done at Land Rover dealer, as was all the other stuff. I agree it’s weird for it be leaking already.

    Engine Misfire

First troubleshooting step I did was swap the plug and coil between cylinder 5 and 1, and the misfire did not follow.

    Engine Misfire

I recently started getting exact same 305/316 combo after filling up. 2013 LR4 with 145k miles. Interestingly, it started immediately after sorting out an evap system leak where a connector above the gas tank wasn’t fully seated. I was getting consistent p0456 faults before. Now that those...

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

No leak from rear crossover area. I see a bit of coolant on bottom driver side corner of the radiator, and around where the large hose just above that connects to radiator. With 50k miles on front crossover, thermostat, etc, and a bunch of original hoses at 140k, I was thinking I should...

Is this a failing crossover pipe?

Jumping in here to ask some advice about my LR4 w/ 142k miles. I have dealer service records from the previous owner, where I can see that the front crossover pipe, thermostat, water pump, and some but not all hoses were replaced at 90k, and rear coolant manifold and radiator were replaced at...

Solved - Which Motive Power Bleeder for LR4?

Good on all of that, but doesn't answer my question about the ABS procedure.. My understanding is you do the ABS thing using the GAP tool after bleeding all four corners. So again, my question is, do you still pressurize the reservoir with the motive while doing the ABS procedure?

Solved - Which Motive Power Bleeder for LR4?

Thanks for your reply. So that's a yes? For the ABS procedure, you would indeed have the motive attached and pressurized? Same as when bleeding each corner?

Solved - Which Motive Power Bleeder for LR4?

Thanks for this. When you do the ABS procedure, do you also use the motive to pressurize the brake fluid reservoir?

    Intro and oil type/interval/filter questions

Can you possibly explain how to change the power steering fluid using the mityvac? I have one and it's incredible for oil changes. I recently needed to rebuild my vacuum pump, so I just extracted the oil into the mityvac, worked on the vacuum pump with no oil loss, and then pumped it right back...
