    Signing off

Hi guys, Thanks for the kind words, it was a pleasure "meeting" you all. I picked up my new Defender 110 (P400 petrol engine) last Friday, thought I would depart with a few photos of it, starting literally from the moment I first touched it at the dealer. I am quite in love with it so far - all...

    FS: 2013 LR4 HSE Lux, 225K miles, $10k - SoCal

Hi everyone, I am selling my 2013 LR4 HSE Lux (7 seater version) in Firenze red with Arabica interior and Black exterior pack. Anyone interested in a high mileage but well maintained LR4 with the last great V8 made for this wonderful vehicle, give me a holler. I factory ordered back in 2013 with...

    Signing off

My new Defender 110 is finally here... OK, not quite in my garage, but it arrived at my local dealer today and is awaiting my pickup... if I weren't away for the long weekend, it WOULD be in my garage tonight. It took 7 months of waiting since I placed my order, only slightly less than a full...

Rear Seat Entertainment screen wont turn on.

Tuck harder. Be prepared to fish for one or two of those very sturdy metal clips that hold the tabs in place, sometimes they pop out.

Using the 12v trunk plug without cutting out after 3 minutes?

This is the fault code stored in the BCM. You can successfully clear it with a diagnostic tool (I use an IIDTool), but it will pop right back up on the next restart. Once you plug the relay back in, it will clear for good.

OIl Leak - top of engine

Oil filter cartridge cover or its o-ring could be the culprits, although you say you didn't remove the filter upon changing oil... Why didn't you, anyway? Remove cover, pop filter off (might as well replace it now), closely check for tiny cracks in the housing, change o-ring regardless of...

Using the 12v trunk plug without cutting out after 3 minutes?

May God strike the greedy owners of Photobucket dead. Sorry about the broken links, I can't edit that old post but here is a copy-and-paste with new photo links... Although you've figured it out without them. I don't check this forum nearly as often as I used to. Pull the "offending" relay...

    LR4 windshield replacement

I think that you'll find most insurance companies will be less and less inclined to replace a broken windshield with the genuine article - a Land Rover branded Pilkington glass - as your vehicle ages and depreciates. I had two of them replaced through my insurance on the LR4, the first one (car...

    Another Defender hint?

It's amazing what a little orange wrap can do. :)

    Another Defender hint?

I was just translating pounds to dollars for reference, who knows how they'll price them in the US (assuming they ever sell them here. They are now talking 2022 deliveries in Europe, no dealer network anywhere, and despite the prototypes and fancy YouTube videos they have yet to figure out a lot...

    Another Defender hint?

The new Ineos Grenadier (if they ever figure out where and when to build it - they have yet to announce where in Europe the plant is going to be) is expected to start at £50,000... About $65k, give or take. LOL, so much for this being the spiritual successor of the humble Defender...

    Another Defender hint?

Apparently the surround camera system becomes an extra cost option after MY20, along with other "360° camera linked features" that are currently standard on 2020s (although that statement is a bit of a head scratcher itself... I can understand 360 parking aid and Wade sensing being dependent on...

Troy, I can't see any pictures. Only the map at the beginning and text. Are they still uploading or something?

    LR4 vs Defender

The vacuum method is the only one left actually, I don't believe the new engines even have a drain plug on the bottom of the sump so you don't get a choice. Also, it looks like the tube for the dipstick does double duty as the vacuum pipe - so the 710 cap is only used for fills and top ups.

    LR4 vs Defender

The new Defender engines have an oil dipstick again! And here you were all complaining Land Rover didn't listen to owners anymore... Aren't you sorry now? :)

    LR4 vs Defender

Nah. It starts from a higher base and goes way higher. :) It's got better numbers than any stock current or past Land Rover vehicle for regular and off-road height clearances, approach, departure and ramp angles, thanks also in part to the large-ish 32" stock tires, short overhangs and that...

    LR4 vs Defender

Actually, the LR4 doesn't have a raised air intake available, since the petrol engine has air intakes on both sides of the car. The LR3 did as its engine only breathed on one side. The Defender's is a RAI, not a snorkel - and it appears to be very cheaply built judging by the PowerfulUK fitting...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

My incoming 110 will come with that satin film actually (alas, it's only available on a handful of colors initially, including my silver, green and brown/stone, that's it I believe.) It was an expensive option from the factory, but a good quality wrap applied locally costs about the same with...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

That's a super silly argument that could have been made for any car ever manufactured since the Model T. Let's say that I'd rather be in a Land Rover that doesn't break down, over any ultra-capable Wrangler or ultra-reliable Toyota. That's the way I've been doing it for the past 15 years, no...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

Limb risers. The steel cables can keep heavy brush and tree branches from hitting the windshield when you venture off-road. Another way of using those hoops at the outer edges of the hood is as tie-downs for canoes, kayaks or other long objects loaded on the roof.

    Another Defender hint?

Lol, that's what happens when you try to recreate the Top Gear UK mystique, but you only have a $500 budget. Oh well, always good to see any Land Rovers in the dirt. Can't really say I learned anything new, other than those two guys happen to be father and son. And of course, the LR3 is not a...

    Another Defender hint?

I guess I don't understand the negativity, especially coming from LR4 owners. Farmers, grizzlied Series 1 owners or Jeepsters with coilers and 37" tires running up and down the Rubicon for a living, OK. But you own a LR4, not exactly a bastion of Land Rover classic lines and post-war heritage...

    Another Defender hint?

The rear rotor is smaller (363 mm 4 piston front, 350 mm single piston rear), so the clearance issue must be a chunky rear caliper. Haven't seen it in the flesh, though.

    Another Defender hint?

Land Rover switched to a unibody lightweight aluminum platform (D7u) since the 2013 Range Rover. All of its current big models are based on it: RR, Sport, Disco and Defender. The Defender is using a strengthened version of the platform codenamed D7x.
