Nitto NT 420S

What do you guys think about this tire?

Its an XL.....V Speed Rating 420 A A.

Seems like a good tire and I know Nitto is a good brand. $212.00 a tire on discount tires website.

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/sea...5&rd=19&cs=255

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde seems to be a good long lasting tire as well. Says its a "Fuel Effiicient Tire". H speed rating 600 AA XL

Anyone run these??? :hello:

Looks like a good street tire. Non-directional rotation should get you longer life. I wouldn't put much emphasis in the all terrain.

I needed up sucking it up and buying 18" wheels. However the zeons are now available in 19". Perelli atr are pretty good too. Depends on what you are looking for. Lucky8 sells 18" steel wheels too.

Your right those are good tires. I guess my problem is this is my first 4 Wheel Drive vehicle (or should I say the first one that works!) and I wanted to get some cool looking and performing off road tires. Even though most of my miles will be highway. I am used to buying 70,000 miles+ rated tires and just didnt want to compromise that durability I am used to. I mean id spend 400 a tire if they were what I was looking for.

This is 2012 right?!?! Aren't we supposed to be in flying cars floating on clouds by now?? I always say..."Technology just hasn't caught up with me yet!"

Pretty much I wanted my cake and wanted to eat it too!! :stupid:

Guess ill put in some time researching different rim and tire selections

Thanks again Joe

Your signature suggests you have an lr3. Why are you looking at 19" tires anyway.? You need to simply get some oem new or used 18" wheels and BFG at/ko or Nitto Terra Grapplers and be done with it. Simple. Those tires will last, the BFG are the best period.

ah....another classic jwest post. If you would like an alternative to "simply" dropping $1000 on 18" OEM rims in addition to new tires, you could try this:

http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/pts/2954482031.html

I'm not sure how far you are from the seller and how much shipping would be. The BFGs that Mr. West has dubbed "the best period" are certainly tough tires...but the MT/Rs offer great traction off-road (which you say you won't need) and certainly pass muster on the "look cool" criterion you laid out.

Haha. ;)

Yes, I meant best "all around" tire and very durable so far in my use and probably very suitable for him. I previously used the bfg mt on my first Disco, a 1996 that I ran through all sorts of crap all stock except for OME spring lift and the tires. I put over 200,000 miles on that thing :)

I figure when you buy a $50-$60k vehicle you should do things the right way and to me, 18's are the right way. Then you can put winter tires on the 19's and that way not only do you spend $ on 5 18" rims and tires but also more 19" winter tires!

I also run 18s AND 19s...but not everyone can do that. Not everyone on the board shelled out $50k - $60k on their LR3s like you and I did either. A lot of folks were smart and waited until there was a used market where they could pluck gems with low miles for half the price!

:)

I used to run those BFGs on a Bronco II back in high school. Good tires. I am really liking my Goodyear MT/Rs though. Can't go wrong with either of those.

If you mean you are willing to spend $400x5=$2000, then you have a budget that allows you to get 18's and BFG's.

Yes, I believe the BFG at ko is the best high mileage/very good off road combination available. Not to mention handling under loads or at speed compared to the very cool but limited 19" mtr listed above.

Get a place like Discount Tire to "sipe" the BFG and they are pretty darn good in winter snow too.

I got my 18's fairly cheap including tire pressure sensors from my dealer because they had take offs laying around.

A little research might even find you a person who got an lr3 with 18's who would enjoy 19's instead, you swap and both parties are happy at almost no cost to either. ??
