I've owned the vehicle since last July and about a month ago I started hearing a ticking sound from the engine, it has gotten progressively worse and it jumps a little while driving plus the check engine light is now on. I brought it to a friend of a friend who said he ran a diagnostic check on it and informed me that I need a new engine. He said the engine is going to seize up on me and this has been a problem with Range Rovers. Has anyone had this problem and if so could you give some advice as there is no way I can afford a new engine. Thank you.

Never heard of this, but it sounds to me like a valve issue... run some seafoam through the intake similar to the way we do it on the Disco and all should be fine. Do a search on Seafoam and you should find the how to.... I should add that to the FAQ section....
