Doing so pretty much eliminates the blown front differential seal concern that leads to no oil and then the usual fuss.
The new does not plug breather uses Gore Tex fabric and costs maybe fifty dollars now and is a clean hands stand up fix. While two minutes would be correct the second time, it took me maybe a half hour, most of that time attempting to convince myself it was that easy.
The rear differential breather is just the usual open hose with the inverted horseshoe and is tied high up to the fuel tank fill piping - that is the old style open pipe breather and does not normally plug.
