Hey everyone, been quite sometime since I've been here. LR3 has 55k (no extended warranty, read on) on it now, and just last week it towed a trailer for my move from FL to WI, without a hitch (well, I did use a hitch). Hope everyone else is doing well.

But, as of now, it has the amber check engine light on, and using a scanner from Advance auto, it seems that the culprit is a coolant temp sensor. But what puzzles me is that I have haven't gotten the "Coolant low" message, which seems to be the main signal. Regardless of symptoms, that's the issue I guess. I had them order the sensor ($40....that's very nice) but, how do I go about installing it? Dealer is a no no, I'm 2+ hours away from one, and with the move and settling into a new house, time is tight.

Thanks in advance. :hello:

PS: LR3's are great for towing, as most know. Worked great, 2" rise seemed to be the best, anything more than 2.5" would be too much IMO.

How do you know it is not the much more common t-stat failure? What was the exact code? Milage wise you are right where I would expect you to be for a stat failure...

might double check on the codes to see what your looking at. but for your answere the coolant sensor is on your left hand side on the coolant rail facing in. your going to have to remove the engine cover its somewhat by the throttle body.

I don't, I forgot to right the code down. I'm going to rescan it today. Kinda hope it is the t stat.

Thanks everyone!
