89 classic overheating - newbie

i just purchased this rover 4 days ago and has overheated twice, both times refilled with fluids and all was good for the day. checked all the hoses and havent found any problems . then today i found anti-freeze puddled on the motor behind the water pump. there are 2 heater hoses ther and both are okay. and water pump seems to be working fine but something is obviously leaking.im totally new to rover and wondering what my next step should be? the motor only has 65k on it, and is a 3.8 i believe.any help would be greatly appreciated. thnx. Im a newbie to all this so dont laugh to hard, loving this site as well, keep up the great work.

First don't drive if it keeps overheating.... you will spend more money rebuilding the engine then you spent on the vehicle.

Have your Rover checked out, without seeing it we can only guess as to the issue.

I agree, don't drive it for any reason or you will destroy the engine.
Find a local Rover mechanic, not a dealer, and have them fill, bleed and pressure test to find the leak and fix it.
Let us know what you find.

got it fixed, water pump didnt have a gasket on it just gasket maker. went down to advanced they overnighted me a gasket for $3.99 , put it on and no more leaking or over- heating. now i have a slight oil leak, looks like the oil pan or some where around front of motor.

Oil leaks on a Rover are like Oil Leaks for older Harley's...when it stops leaking you have a problem.
