This is my first land rover i have ever owned. I really enjoy this vehicle, but at the current moment it is giving me problems. I would like to keep it, but the diagnoses i've been getting haven't been working. I'm on a limited income, and I can't afford the repair shop, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this vehicle since about february. It ran well for a couple of months, and began to give me problems with starting. The battery was charged, and I was told that the cause was the crankshaft position sensor. I replaced that and it ran fine for a couple of months. Then it began to run crappy, where it would make it approx 2 miles or stay on for about 10 minutes. The engine would completely shut off, all the lights on the dash panel come on, and the car coasts to a stop. At first, if i pull over, i'll put the car in park, and wait a couple of minutes, it starts right back up. Lately in the last couple days, i'd have to wait up to 10 minutes, and the car would cut off a lot sooner than 10 minutes.

The only thing consistent about the problem is the initial start up. Like clockwork, it cranks right up, and i have about 10 minutes before it cuts off. Sometimes before it cuts off, the power flutters, and i can punch the gas and it will stay on from 5 seconds to 2 minutes, which leads me to believe its a fuel problem, but this is sporatic, doesn't happen every time. After the car cuts off, a repetitious clicking/ticking sound comes from the area under the glove box (similar to a fast paced turn signal) accompanied by a small blinking red light just above the igniton, where the key goes. You can only hear it inside the car, and it only makes this sound once the car cuts off on its own, not if i shut it off myself. This leads me to believe it could be electrical. Also, the car runs sluggish when the a/c is on.

I have had the crankshaft position sensor, and fuel pump replaced. The car ran great for 3 days after the fuel pump was changed, and we're back to the same old story. My resources are limited and the car can't make it to the nearest repair shop, so my question is, what are possibly causing the problem, and what can i do to possibly troubleshoot this issue??

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, Thanks in advace, yall! I'm a single mom with 2 kids, please help me out!

Welcome to the forum.

How many miles are on your Disco? Type of plugs and wires when were they last changed?

Fuel filter changed? If so, When?

If I were to just guess I would say your fuel pump relay may be going bad, but hard to say without more info.

The filter must be change every year or so and especially when the pump is replaced.
Do you know how to verify fuel pressure at the fuel rail? If so, when it stalls, you need to make sure you have good pressure when trying to start it.
