I am curious. Would it be of any benefit to add a snorkle or anthing else to allow this engine breath cooler air, other than the heated air from under the hood?

Not sure about breathing cooler vs. warmer air. I'm sure that wouldn't hurt but not sure it would give you enough benefit vs. cost.

If you're worried about water, worry about sealing electronics and putting in a higher vent on the rear before worrying about a snorkel.

A cold air intake can only work properly if you can lower the temp under the hood as well. A snorkle will not improve fuel economy or power to the engine if anything it will decrease (longer distance for air to travel).

I think I'll offer a different opinion. The distance the air has to travel makes no diffence at all as it is already in the air line from snorkle to plenum. Horsepower increase should be gained slightly as the intake air is at ambient temperatures and not drawn from the engine bay. The basic formula is that for every 1 degree decrease in air temperature there is a 1 horsepower increase.
