Have had 05 LR3 HSE for two weeks and for the last two nights the alarm just goes off for no apparent reason. Easily stopped but annoying to the neighbours. Only issue is strong cold winds..... Has happend about an hour after exiting the vehicle

Sounds like a water leak. Has it been raining where you are? Also, have you noticed any moisture smells or had the drains cleaned recently?

I have this problem from time to time also. No wind and no water involved.

i had this problem last year... it was coming from a faulty hood latch & sensor, both of which were replaced under warranty.

Ditto-faulty hood latch sensor. I had to replace mine and the problem went away.

Yeah actually I remember having mine replaced as well. The car always told me the "bonnet was open".
