I have a 97 Land Rover Discovery (inherited) that I am starting to try to get operational. It has several problems and I don't want to spend a ton of money on it. My son struck a tree and damaged the right fender, drove it back to the house, and put it in park. I dont know it is a coincidence or not but It became stuck in park with no brake lights. I have checked fuses under the hood and under the dash. I have bought a new brake light switch and have installed it. The brake lights still do not come on and the shifter is still stuck in park. I dont have a current owners manual at the moment. Does anyone know exactly what fuse to check for brake lights and where it is located. I will eventual get a maintenace or owners manual soon.
Thanks,
Jack

I had the same problem without the crashing of course and changed the brake switch and it solved the problem. Does the car start without a problem because there is a impact sensitive switch that might have been set off if it has been try to reset it and that might solve your problem.

NO brake LIGHTS no Move

Chances are you shorted out a wire during the collision. Check all the wiring and the light sockets. Find the fuse that is blown (bet theres at least one) replace and should come out of park. I had the same problem when I shorted a wire installing the infamus after market trailer wiring.
