So let me ask a constructive question from all this: How does one determine if a beat up sensor needs replaced?

It won't stay in the slot now. I can see a few strands of the sensor wire is also exposed but since it did not wear through all the way it still thinks all is OK.

Since it was in the slot but now on the wrong side I guess it took a few hits before it came out of the slot. Surprised it was still there at all actually.
