Is it necessary to change brake pad sensors when the pads are replaced. Someone informed tha the warning light will not go away unless the sensors are replaced as well.

If the sensors have not been ground down by the rotors then they should work with another set of pads although most of the better pads do come with sensors already installed.
Consider installing a set of Akebono ceramic pads when doing your brakes, they stop better then OEM pads, little to no dust and last longer.
