Code P0042

Hello - 2015 LR4 here. Single code getting thrown of P0042. No other symptoms that I am aware of.

P0042 "Bank 1 Sensor 3"

It sounds like this is an oxygen sensor, but any idea where this one is located on the vehicle/replacement instructions?

Bank 1 Sensor 3 is in the right side (passenger) exhaust, furthest one back.

Basically, unplug connector and unscrew the sensor. Need a 7/8" wrench.

Has anyone had experience with aftermarket sensors for the LR4? I’ve heard people (non LR4-specific) say stay away from aftermarket, but not sure if that’s still true or not. About $100 price difference…

Just use a name brand sensor.

There is a TSB on O2 sensors, so check that out before coming out of pocket
