Depending on dealers I have seen green Prestone, red and orange colored anti-freeze when the Rover Bible states only Rover brand coolant. I bet they use tap water who cares. They don't want vehicles running 2-400K miles they're in the care business that means warranty and patch work just to keep it running. Heck I had a warranry new 4.6 installed in my 95 D1 from the 3.9 and they used the old heater hoses. Three weeks later starting to do a little highway and motor breakin I blow a ballooned and full of cracks hose off. A $5,300 motor exchange and they do crap like that besides over extended the hood and sprung the hinges so the hood sits 1/4" higher than the fenders plus hit the 1/4 panel with a transmission jack I saw that one. They placed several boxes on the hood and dragged them across a black vehicle deep scratches. Buffed until almost thru the clear coat still have scratches that they say they can not see, yeah at over 50'. With motor out the pushing electric machine to move vehicles around pushed in my $159 spare tire cover. Hey it was that way when the vehicle came in they said. When the new 4.6 was installed they wanted to keep the old 3.9 motor, I wanted it. They took all the rod and main caps and old head bolts and threw them into the cylinders and pushed the short block out into the rain. Oh yes the car sat in the rain a week with the sun roof open interior roof dripping and mirror fell off within 3 miles away. Not our problem mirror fell off a natural freah happening.
New motor vibration out of balance, clutch basket called "within Rovers standards" what a crock. Dealers care only if you sign and purchase a vehicle from them only. Over 5 years old try and get parts.
Back in 2000 I had the new warranty motor installed, I recall after 2002 or 3 to get a 4.6 dealers would replace your motor from a wrecking yard no new OEM motors available told by two different service managers from two different dealers. After a road test on a complaint my vehicle came back with a vibration from a curb crash and a rim bead bent in from a curb impact. Jack up and rotate wheel and feel a tight spot in the rear hub bearing.
Not me it came in that way was told when I have fresh tire dressing ripped off and cloth threads showing thru chunks of sidewall missing. This on a cherry street D1 with waxed wheels on the back sides. New tire, rim, wheel bearings and loaner vehicle. as I had pictures taken of my vehicle on the dealers ramp at the dealership display ramp. Showed all tires and rims like new. One hour photo 5 blocks away in your face manager.Sorry i'm venting about dealers again. Oh driveline vibration, the flange to driveshaft were finger tight they forgot to torque down the bolts. Rear rubber U joint POS put on backwards. Time is money on warranty repairs. Done venting. on this two doors that open without someone pulling the lock button up. Nice in the rain besides passenger gets wet feet from water dripping under the dash. But it's British.
