So I was in the process of bypassing my factory amp the other day and I was working under the passinger seat. I had seen a little square box that said "diagnostic center" on it! Can any one tell me what this is for? Maybe a code reader for the obd1??? If so how do you read it??

Aahhhhhhhhh You found out where I hook up my T-4 to diagnose all of the Land Rovers systems. And for a small fee of $16,500.00 You can own one too!

To be completely honest with you, I see no reason why the T-4 costs so much, there’s nothing there that is that expensive. They’re just trying to make it a locked market is all.

The low costs code readers like the ones you get from autozone or other auto parts places are OBD2 compliant………. Not Land rover. They will read a variety of emission related codes only to a mediocre satisfaction and that is it. the only real way to read LR’s diagnostic systems is to get a T-4 or a Autologic unit that will interface with LR’s systems.

The black box Faultmate SV SV = single vehicle, can only be used on one serial # vehicle, not two, even if they are the same. So this tool is only good for one vehicle, you can’t fix your friends Rover with this. The MV model you can, MV = Multiple vehicle. And be prepared to pay for the MV model. This system, Faultmate works. I sent mine back for a refund though, I felt like sending them a bill for the Bankity blank blank way it is set up. The T-4 blows it away literally. :boxing:

DEC superscan2 I love this unit, simple, reads Rovers, live data, You can freeze data, Save Data, Simple plugs, Tough, awesome screen and most everything else you ever wanted, an ultimate universal system for the do – it yourself people.
My 6 month test of this tool showed that it is useful in most
Land Rover service situations. You will still have to refer some jobs to the
Stealership or a better-equipped independent, i.e. bleeding the brakes, security systems and I-d / program processors. etc., but you’ll be able to do a lot more than you could with a simple OBD II scanner, by far.
Here’s the link:

Here’s a bunch of scan tools to look over:

The T-4 and the Autologic units are actually probably too technical for the average home do-it yourself person. These units actually program the processors and assign serial numbers to them and do the security systems, all of which needs numbers and codes from the dealers. It also pulses the ABS system to bleed the brakes, this is about the only difference between the T-4 and Autologic vs. the Superscan. Superscan will set you back around $3,000.00 with all the gimmicks. And if you read my prior post, you don’t need this to bleed the brakes.

If you want to know more let me know…
