Hi everyone

Looking for some advice regarding my 2004 disco II. At moment it's 4.0 v8 with 38000 miles on clock and on LPG
Have heard that I can change the crank, rods and cam from the 4.6 (as apparently the blocks are the same) and keep the 4.0L pistons for better compression.
Is this so as I have these parts laying around somewhere.
Also anyone tried nitrous?

Your 04 already has a 4.6 engine in it.
Forget Nitrous, you'll blow the lid off the engine and take out your tranny because of the extra power surge.

Thanks Disco Mike

But forgot to mention that I'm in the UK and we poor Brits never got that lovely 4.6 engine. Only the 4.0 and on LPG its just not as quick as it should be.

thanks again kev

Sounds like you need to have the ECU retuned. Have you checked with RPI?

Sorry to hear you got the short end of the stick, so to speak.
A number of people on this side of the pond have installed 4.6 cam, some with more HD springs and it has made a noticiable improvement as will some of the aftermarket cams
Going to a new crank and rods will be pretty expensive.
Let us know what you do.

If you use RPI and ask any questions only answers you'll get from Chris Crane or Lisa is sent your parts in, they give very little in answers just big money I find a total waste of my time with many emails.

I went thru V8developements.com with many questions after 7 plus years with RPI's simple questions going unanswered hence about gave up on the Rover it is what it is live with it. A PITA to drive for years.

Then I came across V8developements.com as Shaun has answered many questions quickly plus adding many other tips and ideas. Not only this he has told me that Mark Adams who designed the Tornado chip after my findings with my chip can retuned to correct this 7 plus year problem with its lean transition problem plus many other questions were answered.

RPI, "send in your engine we will take care of it for you" answers got rather old besides being 7,000 miles away. Too bad I didn't find Shaun 7 years ago.

Thanks guys

Energy Shift who fitted the LPG multi point system made similar comments about RPI "If your not spending the pounds there's very little imfo in return" and on the LPG front, the comment was "the guy don't know his a** from his elbow".
Have been a bit reluctant to use RPI after the good relationship I have with Energy Shift.
By the way I did ask them for there opinion and got a fat "NO! why do you want to spoil such a nice Disco. If you want a sports car go and buy one"
Well so much for wanting to be different!!!

thanks everyone
kev

P.S Its a first for me that a company turns down easy money for the sake of the car.
