what's the threshold for the system to determine that it thinks you're offroad so it automatically starts to raise the suspension for you?

There isn't one. It will only raise into off-road height if you hit the switch or if you are in low gear and choose an offroad program.

hmm i thought i read some where that it did must have read wrong

the reason i asked was because i was Mall Wheeling and as i was driving through the parking lot, i cut across this deep drainage "v" and then crossed over another one as we were trying to find a place to park. as we came to a stop, my wife and I both noticed that the suspension seemed to settle back down. I thought it had raised and then lowered.

It does do some "self-leveling" but that is an entirely different thing than off-road height. There is also another feature, which may be the one you read about, in which the LR3 raises itself into "extended height" if it detects that it is high-centered or otherwise has a wheel off the ground and needs to find more traction.

One other possibility - the suspension will raise automatically from access height mode to standard mode when you reach a certain speed.

But based upon your description, it does sound like self-leveling.

Best to simply avoid taking the LR3 to the mall all together :hello: My wife managed to find the limits of those "low height clearance" signs at our local mall. She has no clue how to make use of access height mode.

ya i wasnt in access mode that for sure it was weird because cutting across the "v" drainage ditch the car was jossled around and the suspension went through some good articulations LOL
