Does anyone have any information on what it would mean if the engine light goes on? My engine light went on this morning and I would like to know how serious this is. The service guy at the dealership told me that it was no big deal, and then proceeded to tell me that the soonest they could look at my LR3 was ten days from now. Oh and that if I wanted a loaner car I would have to wait 2 1/2 weeks to have my car looked at.

It means your engine has flagged a fault. If you want to "official statement", read the owner's guide.

Sorry, there is no way you can plug you LR3 into the internet and run diagnostics. ;)

Happened twice to me altitude (8500 ft). Weird thing is I was at that altitude or higher for a week before the light came on. Once I got down to a lower elevation it went away. Asked my dealer about it and they said that they would check any fault codes on my first service. I suspected it was the oxygen sensor since that was a common occurance with some other vehicles I owned in the past at altitude. Guess we will see in a few weeks.

just happened to mine as well. was on for a couple days and then went off. if it is something simple like, gas cap not tight, (or anything minor) it is supposed to clear within 100 miles if the fault condition is no longer there. that's what the dealer told me, anyway.

manual says it indicates a problem with your emissions system. ? if it flashes, you're supposed to take it in right away.
