Did you put a straightedge on the manifold & head to check for warpage?

That'd be my guess - mine leaked for a year b/4 my wife made me fix it, it's been fine for over a year now.(pass side)

luck,greg

Are you sure the manifold itself isn't cracked, a common issue on rovers.

update... The leak is still there but discovered it is not from the gasket but towards the cylinderhead, is it possible to be leaking from the head gasket, im not sure how close the gasket is to the exhaust ports. just hoping the head isn't cracked any ideas any one?!

Quick way to see where the leak is, is to run some seafoam into the intake vacuum line... you will see where the leak is real fast.

If head gasket I will find out the part number for better head bolt set which eliminates head bolt issues that have caused rover issues for years.

it is the headgasket I was able to feel where it is coming from , between 2 and 3 on the passengers side. Makes perfect sense , car running hot occasionaly running rough when started warm, Now comes the fun part changing the head gasket , Ive done numerous OHC and DOCH cars , is a push rod more or less difficult ? I know timing is not affected. Do i require any special tools other than a torque wrench?
Thanks for all your help !

If you have done a DOHC vehicle you can do a Rover in your sleep.... remember it is a 1960's Buick 215 engine.

if sludged clean them while you are there, it never hurts to have the heads checked for trueness, not sure about cost or how effect it will be.
