freelander 2002 to replace engine

Hi to every one.
My name is Brian I live in Malta one of the new EU members.
My age is 53 married and have 4 children boy 27 years married, girls twins of 22years and 10year old girl too.
i work in a telecom company.
last December I bought a freelander petrol and wish to share my problems with someone.
The engine needs to be changed So I discided to change this engine with a much modern one which is the freelander facelift of 2004 or 2005.
I wish to Rx. some feedback regarding this issue.

First, welcome to the forum. Second, sadly the petrol engines in the freelanders are known for major issues. I would convert over to a diesel if possible.
