I guess it depends on the franchise, down in Florida an owner got the local Fibrenew to repair the same crack on his 2006 RRS and he was ecstatic with the results... But I can see their concern about potential liability.
Regarding the Sport, I just sold my 2006 HSE with 210,000 miles, best car I ever owned and a dream to drive, and I obviously drove it a lot. I had some issues with it, but all of the "annoying" variety, nothing I wouldn't expect from any car with that many miles. My baby never once left me stranded, engine and tranny are bulletproof. Took her off road quite often and stuck to the suggested oil changes and services every 7500 miles religiously (obviously at an indy shop, as dealers will eat you alive after warranty.) Against everyone's opinion, I didn't get any extended warranty, and I was right. Other than a number of sway bar bushings, a couple of EAS compressors - one replaced under warranty when the car was almost new - and both front wheel hubs, just regular maintenance. I would have purchased another one, were it not for the fact that I need more space for my growing family.... So I got the next best thing, a 2013 LR4.
I hope your ownership experience is half as good as mine was, you'll love this car. There is still nothing quite like it on the road in my opinion.
