Hey guys, just got my first Land Rover today. It is a 97 Disco 160k that I picked up for 1200 bucks. Just has some minor issues as a 1200 dollar vechle is expected to have, valve covers leaking, P/s pump leaking, tune up just the basics. But my question is dose anyone know any out standing issues with the disco1 I've read a lot about the 2 but haven't come across anything else.

Leaks are normal for older Land Rovers kind of like Harleys that way.

Hopefully the P/S leak is from the cheap clamps, replace the hoses and clamp and is should stop. If not it is the seals in the system and that is more of a pain.

As far as D1 issues depending on how the previous owners took care of it will determine a few of the issues. But the 97 - early 99 models for the D1 were fairly sorted out.
