Many Land Rover owners are snobs...they were and still are a status symbol in many peoples eyes. I feel that with the size of the Discovery's there is NO reason that the backseat has so little room. I love my D1, but I feel sorry for anyone sitting in the back, that is for sure. Not to mention the almost impossible task of climbing in and out the rears over the darned wheel well. I hope that they can figure out some sort of seat arrangement though, if my Disco lasts I will have the same issue, because not everyone has enough money to buy more than one car just because they had some children. But I am in the same boat as you berr, just try to use my Disco for what its worth and try to ignore the shortcomings, but that does not mean that I dont realize our pitfalls in terms of engineering---I will still take my oil spewing, gas eating, leg crampin (rear seats, lol) Landy over any other car I have ever known!
