Hi Everyone,

Any one have a good option for buying the tow hitch receiver? Is there a best place to buy accessories like this?

Thanks,

I bought a hitch, ball, and trailer harness back in May. Did a lot of shopping around and ended up at utahparts.com which delivered fast and had good prices. FWIW...

land rover west chester sells the hitch for $235 + shipping. they are my local dealer and are really cool with parts. as far as drop and hitch ball, you can go to any local parts shop and pick up the one that suites you best. a standard 2" drop and 2" ball should not cost more than $30 for both. get a pin or locking pin and your in business for under $50. that puts you about $400 for the hitch, wiring, drop, ball and pin.

I was reading through another thread that actually mentioned to check the jack area for a hitch before you buy one - amazingly there was one in there! So I removed the little black cover on the bumper and the trailer wiring was already done too! Pretty lucky.

RichPike is definately a lucky guy! On that topic though, I did a self-install of the wiring harness. It was particularly difficult although I took my time (and it was probably a 30 or so minute effort). I put mine in so that I could pull a 8' trailer full of household stuff from CA to CO. Even through the mountains and all, the LR3 just moved right along. I know it's wheelbase is a bit short for pulling a large trailer, but it sure has the umph to pull whatever you need to...You do have to watch the tongue weight though as I think that although the total weight limit is 7k lbs, the tongue is limited to 500 or 550 (vs the standard 10% of total weight that most can carry)...I have read a post where someone overloaded the tongue and the hitch dropped out of the mounting socket...
