Hi everyone im new to the rover world and a brand new owner or a p38.
i went a picked it up last week. heres whats going on...
when i put it any gear.. it does nothing but makes a sound like the transmission is working and turning but truck does not move. its a 99 range rover 4.0 auto transmission. so i started working on it. i started with the cheap.. the transfer case electric shift motor. i tested it with a battery, it spun for 2 seconds then stoped. could not get it to turn either way i wired it any more. i believed it just broke or was locked up or i just burned it up. its ok got new one on the way now. should be here next week or friday.
so i notice i can turn the switch on the transfer case by hand . i turned it all the way clockwise torward the passenger side. then cranked it up and put it in reverse yaaaaay i have reverse now, b4 it did not work. so i go down to drive nothing. then tried the other gears.. theres a lot of them. none of them work. so i got back under the truck to get another look. could not see anything wrong. besides not having eletric shift motor hooked up. so i pluged it in but left it hanging. nothing changed. if i turn the the switch all the way to the driver side i lose my reverse no gears work at all. im lost.
any ideas?
