Just Getting Started, Key lock question

I had to be given a lesson in how to turn mine on when I firtst took it for a test drive....Make sure that you push the key in, press toward the steering wheel, and you'll feel it give a little, allowing you to start it. Same with turning it off. I have the same problem with my Disco, wondering if it was the key or ignition.
