It's a spare, who cares about the pattern? I run 10 spoke wheels, but my spare is a 5 spoke. I used it once about 100 miles from home, at the time, I though that 5 spoke was the most beautiful wheel I'd ever seen :)

Hi Nathan,

I can understand someone wanting the same pattern, I waited to find this style myself in case I damage (cosmetically) one of my main wheels I can swap it out with the spare, but if it is "just" a spare then it truly does not matter.

I don't even have a spare that's the same size!

I only have four 18" rims right now so my 19" wheel and (Goodyear) tire is my only spare. Probably not the best scenario, but I really never venture anywhere that far from home or civilization and figure it would be good enough to get me home if I had to use it.

That said, I AM in the process of finding/buying a legit spare.

Spare...

I agree about not caring if the spare matches...I actually have 1 spare that matches that will be on the rear tire carrier that I'm installing this weekend. I wanted to get an inexpensive spare (hence the steel/aluminum alloy spare search) to replace the spare below.

I'm not so sure that will even fit with the 265/65/18 but will try. This weekend I'll be installing the rear tire carrier, complete under armor (Rasta 4x4) and the sill guards (also Rasta 4x4).

I still would like to mount 4 Hella or Piaa lamps on the roof rack; however, I've yet to see any reasonable means to do this other than a from scratch fabricator.

Saw exactly this kind of thread with lots of photos about a year ago on www.disco3.co.uk

You know, that makes a lot of sense and would entice me to make the effort to get a matching wheel also. Or else a nice safari wheel cover :)

Another reason to do it is to rotate it in during tire rotations. I'd prefer to actually use the spare if I could.

My dealer service guy said that tire rotations are not necessary for this vehicle because it's permanent 4WD....anyone refute that?

That said, it would still be good to rotate in a spare so that the wear can be consistent.

That is terrible advice. The majority of braking friction and ALL of the turning friction go through the front wheels. Friction = wear.

I figured it was irresponsible advice. I suppose that for me, since I'll be taking wheels on and off to switch between the Synchrones and the Zeons, I can rotate quite often. ...the wheels probably switch positions randomly and inadvertently with me, actually. Do you suppose that is bad?
