Tribe,

I have been consistently getting the Diagnostic Trouble Codes for Bumper Sensors / Front & Rear Sensors for years:
  • ACM—Audio System. U0159-00. Lost communication with parking assist control module.
  • Body Control. U0128-00 (28). Lost communication with parking brake module.
I was hoping my rebuild (which included cleaning up the wiring harness and replacing all the sensors front & rear) would rectify this issue...alas, the codes continue.

What used to happen is the back-up alarm would just alarm when you put the truck into reverse. I diagnosed one bad sensor but replaced the whole lot of them since I figured they could just give me future trouble anyway. Hoping that would solve my issues....

After the rebuild, there were a whole bunch of error codes, such as multiple faults with the Electric Parking Brake (EPB). We re calibrated the EPB and reset that module ("bed down") and that seemed to fix a bunch of these related DTC's.

Unfortunately, the U0159-00 & U0128-00 (28) have persisted.

Now, when you put it into reverse, it beeps momentarily, but then the sensors just don't do anything (they are not detecting the distances at all).

Searching other forums, it appears that we are having issues commonly associated with a bad Parking Assist Control Module (PACM). For example -

Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this particular issue?

If it is a bad module, then I will have to replace that too....

We plan on tearing things apart again next week and try to trouble shoot that module but I was curious if anyone had any advice or wisdom to impart.

Many thanks!

Not sure this helps, but was just in the shop this week to discuss another issue, and asked the Tech why I keep getting a U0102-00 (loss of communication with Tcase). He stated that they dont pay a lot of attention to U codes as they are almost always Comm issues, and can often be set while the vehicle is parked/off, esp if it sits for several days. This is due to the "brains" are still talking to various components all the time, and if the battery gets just a smidgen too low and the brain gets a weak/bad response it sets the code. I have the issue with my backup camera. System works perfectly, but I always have a U code from the computer saying it couldn't be found. And it says the date it had the bad reading is 2029!!! Go figure. He also said since my battery is 4 years old in a FL vehicle it may be getting a bit weak and a new one might help.

If it were mine I'd unplug the sensors and see if it alarms or sets a dash code. I'd rather have default being off instead of on for the alarm. Don't need it, but when I want it for bush or something then yeah maybe turn it on if I can't see what I'm backing into.

Another thing is if someone gets close to me at a gas station or parking lot my fuse tends to boil so really its pointless at best for me. If it beeped when its 1/2" distance to an object or less then that would be fine.
