Recently got my first oil change in the LR3 at 2000 miles. Switched over to Mobil One 5w-30 Synthetic. Dealer put in the wrong oil originally (which I had predicted), and then replaced with mine. At least that is what they tell me. Anyway, just out of curiosity, pulled out the dipstick the other day to check the level. Is it just me, or is the LR3's dipstick really hard to read? Seems like I pull it out ten different times and get ten different readings. Seems like the stick pulls oil up the tube...then the next time I put back, it smears on the stick giving a false high reading. Weird part is, it was at its highest the first time I pulled it out. That reading was WAY too high and obviously not correct....as in a couple inches above max.

Best I can tell, the level is currently right about at the A or X in the work MAX, just a little above the max "line". Does not seem like a serious overfill, although admittedly I am not an expert. Correct or not?

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or am I just.....challenged.

Oh, and the LR3 had been sitting for over a day when I was checking the oil.

Out of curiosity, I just checked mine. Three times. All three times I got slightly different readings, but all were within about 1mm. I'm guessing that's probably normal. Hope this helps.
