hey everone, i just blew my transmission on my 1995 discovery. it is the 3.9 liter. i just wanted to know where i can get a rebuilt or used transmission that will be good for another 50,000 miles, i dont want to spend more then $1500 including the transmission and labor. i got an estimate on having mine rebuilt and my service garage is a bunch of idiots and they said it was goign to be around $2000. i am willing to drive not to far to pick a transmission up. i live on Long Island, New York in Suffolk county. i am willing to drive about 200 miles from where i live. any help would be great, thank you

Is that a stick or auto? I have a 5-speed in my 95 D1.
Just the rebuild kit alone for the ZF 5-speed is $650 US dollars alone.
Labor's another story besides having a transmission lift.

I had the same just happen to my 95 disco. A re-build will cost 2,700.00 cdn. A used trany from the wrecker is 1,000. Installed will come to 2,000. I am going ahead with the rebuild, at least it's going to be warrantied for two years.
