I have a 99 disco 2 -the strangest thing happened last night. I pulled into
my driveway, turned off the ignition and when I tried starting the truck again - all power was gone! I checked the fuses in the engine - there is one
40amp fuse that is burned and I am waiting for the auto parts store to open to go buy one, but I am suspecting that the problem is probably more complex than a simple burned fuse - has this happened to anyone?
Can somebody offer some advice?

Yo eed to hae someone who has the equipment check it, you don't want to mess around and land up with a burned wire harness.

You have no power at all? nothing? won't crank, lights won't come on, the works? It depends on what fuse was blown (40amp is big), but I would also look at and/or replace the negative ground on you battery, a bad battery ground will **** everything in a second.

I agree with ColeCam. Check both the positive and negative battery cables for tightness and any corrosion.

I did in fact find a 40 amp fuse blown, but couldn't find a 40amp fuse at the local hardware/automotive parts store, so I replaced it with a 30 amp. I also checked the battery cables for tightness and corrosion and they seem to be fine

so did that solve the problem, at least temporarily? Obviously I would get another 40 amp, if that is what it calls for....
