New to the forum. Wanted somewhere to go to for LR info, gear, and work-a-rounds to some of it’s challenges. I am an off-road enthusiast and founded/owned and operated a Jeep Tour company here in AZ for 15 years. Ran Scramblers for years, then added some converted Jeep versions. However, upon selling the company, crossed over into LR land (2006 LR3, and now a 2011 LR4). Love them, but do find specific challenges to these vehicles.
One is the limited selection of tires that will fit for off-road use. My tire of preference has always been BF Goodrich, but they don’t make a 19” size for the LR. For the 2006, I took off the 19” wheels and replaced with the original 18” to be able to get some sort of off-road tires on the rig, and thought I would keep those 18’s for the 2011 LR to do the same. WRONG. I was told that the rotors on the 2011 would not work with the 18” tires, so once again...only had 2 options for a suitable tire.
I’m currently looking to replace all my current tires (tried Cooper in the past, now riding on Goodyear. Anyone have any suggestions for a BF AT equivalent or ano brand for moderate off road use? (Now that I have the pretty LR, I don’t do serious 4 wheeling anymore in it, I use an ATV for that)
Another issue I am having is that my Nara Bronze paint is wearing through (seriously??? A $70,000 rig in which the paint fades???) The clear coat is peeling off and the color is fading quickly. Do I need an entire new paint job?? This is crazy! Thanks for any input
