OBD II Software ELM323

I have an OBDII ELM323 interface unit that works well with my other vehicles, but not a Disco 1. Is there any software program that will interface my PC to a Disco 1 using the ELM323 chip.

I've searched and read all the OBD links here and elsewhere and am more confused now than ever. If the ELM323 chip will not interface, will an ELM327 or ELMSCAN5 work with the Disco1?
