Just got her back from an oil change service.
Backed out of the garage and noticed two large oil spots on the garage floor.
The spots were about the size of a slice of bologna.

Crawled underneath, loosened the skid plate and there was qutie a bit of oil that had collected. cleaned it up. Oil filter was tight.

Went to work this AM. came out this afternoon and two quarter sized spots
dripping from the two back skid plate screws. drove her home and placed a piece of cardboard underneath. I will see what happens tomorrow AM.
Did not appear to be dripping when I first got home.

My question, did the jackels at the dealership put too much oil in and the pressure is causing it to leak? Did they forget to put a gasket on?
This really p1sses me off. 50K vehicle should not leak! Not to mention I just painted my garage floor this summer.

Has anyone out there gone through this?

Nope. Never happened to me. I'd call them up either way. It should "hopefully" be a quick service check while you wait, right?

They either kept something loose, and will have to add some more oil, or there is something wrong.

They picked her up at my work. Have not gotten "the call" yet.

Unbelieveable! The more _hit that goes on, the more I think I should have gotten the X5.

Please tell me I am wrong.

My guess is that when they removed the old filter the gasket stayed on the block. Then they installed the new filter and basically "doubled" the gasket. The filter will still appear to be tight, but oil will leak out between the two gaskets. If this is the case, it's a pretty common rookie mistake.

BTW, have you ever been on one of the X5 forums? Seems they are not without their problems either!

Don't get me wrong, my blood flows land rover green. But it just bums me out. I waited a long time to get a Rover and I hate the nickel and dime problems.

They fixed the oil leak. But I have to take her back in. I will post that fiasco on another post.

My 06 LR3 has had a couple of leaks. I have taken it in twice for coolant leaks, and took it back today for another leak. It turns out to be an oil leak from "somewhere towards the front of the engine". I'm told that they should know more tomorrow. Hopefully it something simple...
