I've been running the ATRs since January 09 with over 25,000 miles and still have at least 15k or more to go. they are very quiet on the highway however, i did hydroplane once in the spring going 65mph. So now I drive around 50 mph to be safe when the water is a couple inches deep. On trails, they hold up very well. Overall, they are great and will most likely buy another set for these 19" wheels. Never been able to attach images to these messages but if you look up my name in the gallery, you can see the tires on my truck.

...sounds like the ATRs would be good, but jp I'm surprised that you aren't happy with your Synchrones. I've put about 40k miles on mine and they've been flawless and look to be able to handle another 30k miles. I've even taken them offroad a few times and they've heled up pretty well.

An LR3 ending up in a ditch by way of hydroplaning on wet pavement would be pretty embarassing; glad it didn't happen.

I am happy with my Synchrones, but they don't make them anymore. I guess I could go with the Latitudes. I have 40K on my Synchrones right now. I just want to get some new tread on my LR3 so I have a good ride for the last few years I own it. Nothing like buying new tires for someone else ;-)

Regarding the hydroplane: I was going to fast on a really slushy snow. I don't think the tire would have mattered. I just learned the hard way that really, really wet snow compacts very quickly to an almost undrivable surface. I had two buddies in the car and all of us almost **** ourselves. I had zero control and just drifted left towards the ditch. Somehow, I caught some traction, didn't overcorrect and was able to slow down all at the same time. Lucky. It just got me thinking about new tires.
