raqnge rover sport 2.7 td6 problem

2007 year-message appears transmission fault limited gears available.starts and then turns off with reduced power.changed the fuel filter and battery had to be charged!any suggestions what could be wrong??help

I work at a land rover dealer in the states we have a lot of range rover sports come in with this fault .we find there is a fault in the rear diff motor if it has a locking rear diff there is a servcie message about this to replace the diff motor and complet a down load to the rear diff ecu .hope this helps if not i would like to know .

Thanks mate!For some weird reason after unplugging the cables going into the injection system -was trying to check them ,put them back in and problem has dissapeared!Dont know whats going on.Can you help me explain how to do what u said in case it comes back on!usually was happening after 90-100 miles speed.
